No matter how hard I seem to try I get just as much criticism as positive feedback from the community (from both sides).
Makes it really hard to stay motivated. I try my best to support all other MAPs in their efforts, even if what they’re doing doesn’t resonate with me. Isn’t that what solidarity is about?
Why do we work so hard to tear each other down? Don’t the antis do that for us enough?

Across both my accounts 26 people voted. 10 people believed prison abolition was more likely. 16 thoughts AoC abolition was more likely.
I guess removing one specific type of punishment seems more likely than removing the system of punishment altogether. I still think MAPs should be actively engaged with prison abolition and reform, though. It disproportionately affects our community. Even if you’re anti-c.

Survivors have a right to share their experiences and have them be heard.
That's where it should end.
Your experiences aren't universal and believe it or not, you don't know better about the intentions of "offenders" than they themselves do (though obviously they have a strong incentive to paint themselves in a good light).

Well, my sentencing didn't go well and while I'm out on bail until my appeal, it's likely I've got a 2 year custodial sentence and forced deportation after that. (My appeal is unlikely to succeed but buys me time with my family in this country.)
I'll be taking a step back from MAP stuff to focus on my family as much as I can before I'm taken away from them.

I’ve met some great people who are MAPs, I’ve met some interesting people. If I want to live in total honesty I have to meet people through these communities. But as much as I like you, I don’t want to be forced onto pedi, I at least want the fucking choice of Twitter.
Some people like to embrace their sexual orientations as identities and build their communities and networks around that. Honestly, that’s never been for me. But now I have no fucking choice.

Also, I don't know why pro-c / anti-c is even that much of a debate in Germany. K13 put forward a proposal to reduce the AoC from 14 to 12. Two years. TWO FUCKING YEARS. And suddenly that's a massive chasm that the community can't overcome through discussion?
Someone who thinks the AoC should be dropped from 18 to 16 wouldn't even be considered pro-c in the anglosphere (Lecter is considered anti-c despite supporting 16). Why the drama over 2 years?

How do these anti-cs think that pro-c MAPs should go about activism? Pro-c activism will always exist. Do they want to work together on the 90% of issues on which we agree? Or do they want pro-c activism to run independently (without any moderating effect of anti-c opinion)?
Pro-c isn't just going to disappear as much as they may hope it did. So are we working together as allies or not?

Brian and I rewrote the pro-reform 16/12 proposal on AMSC.
The pro-reform position is focused on maintaining a balance of freedoms, responsibilities and protections for MAPs and young people. Obviously, one of the most contentious issues is AMSC (Adult-Minor Sexual Contact). Almost always viewed through the negative lens of child sex abuse, legal definitions of what constitutes criminal sexual contact are highly arbitrary and vary significantly around the world.

At least the judge is being honest. It's probably true that they care less about children than they do about their idealized conception of "childhood". It is their concept of a childhood of "innocence" and free of sexuality that they are trying to protect with laws against AMSC and PIM.
They'd probably try to ban masturbation if they could. Like Finklehor says about CSA, it took causes moral, but not empirical harm.
