No for the most part. Yes in that Canada has been a State labor colony since forever, so just now "entering" a recession is a bit of misnomer. Most all our media is from the State or heavily regulated by them, we had the wheat board for the longest time, the National Energy Program, railroading of pipeline construction, high internet rates and few telecom companies, only a few main banks. Also at a smaller level you've had things like the mafia running municipal government, construction companies, and unions, all in one municipality.
