This is not about "climate campaigners" and framing it this way is totally ridiculous
This is a blow to the planet and us all

19,000 grenades were used in Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Bordeaux by the police last weekend
19,000
And some suggest there was not enough police presence
If ever there was proof that authoritarian crackdowns are not the solution to the many crises France and other countries are facing...

Sorry but "we want deadly borders and the inhumane treatment of migrants and asylum seekers but we draw the line at shooting them on sight" is not a sensible comment
Considering it so plays in the hands of the far right who is consciously using the extreme right as contradistinction

Seeing Jacob Rees-Mogg seriously portrayed as the voice of moderation tells you everything you need to know about the stage of mainstreaming of far-right politics we are at and how little mainstream actors understand or care about it

It was confirmed yesterday that the centre left coalition won the election in Sweden
As predicted, with the far right performing poorly, coverage has almost entirely vanished from international media

You may be relieved but spare a thought for so many editors in the mainstream media who were hoping to run hyping headlines about the far right winning in Sweden
As always when SD is hyped and ends up crashing, I expect Swedish politics will drop off the radar as it's no longer sexy enough

"Turnout for the election was the second lowest since the role was created in 2012, with just 17.14% of the electorate"
Reporting elections without turnout is not only inaccurate, it plays a key role in the mainstreaming of far right parties making them look far more popular than they really are...

Good, clear coverage:
"Those playing a pivotal role in the spread of the footage on Elon Musk’s X included the far-right activist known as Tommy Robinson, fresh from a meeting this week at a sumptuous Moscow hotel with the billionaire’s father"

We have had surveys that have shown us exactly this in the UK, France, the EU etc for many years
What we need to ask ourselves is why have journalists, politicians, academics etc chosen to focus on surveys that hype immigration
This is what I explore here:

One of the reasons why people often prefer debating ("dining across the divide") with the far right than the left is that the former makes them feel good about themselves by comparison
Debates with/amongst the left bring up uncomfortable reflections about our participation in systems of oppression
