Fedi really suffers from a sort of “chicken and egg” problem where people aren’t joining because of their friends not being there.
I have friends on fedi and Bluesky so I have to use both, but Bluesky has more.

@npub1j4p…z0qp Back when I used it, I was able to get some neat generations of unsettling, dream-like error messages that wouldn’t look out of place in the current analog horror trend.
Now it won’t let me do that.
Wonder if there’s any LORAs for stuff like that.

If you want to introduce less technically-inclined friends to the fediverse, don’t overload them with information about how the fediverse works.
Simply tell them to find a community they like, or better yet, if you know what they’re into find an appropriate instance for them, and also tell them not to worry about anything else. The way fediverse works is better shown rather than explained.
For example, I recommended squawk.social to a friend of mine with a birdsona, and he said he’ll consider signing up.
