Last Notes npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage Then change the law to actually reflect that, because otherwise, it's just at the whims of the current administration and what they define as peace. Germany is currently the second largest backer of the Israeli state war machine and a major base for US interests in Europe. I woke up this morning not knowing whether Donald Trump had nuked Iran overnight or not. This sort of thing can change in a flash. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage But that's not the way it is written, right? It's written as "To travel, you must get approval and do X." If it was written as "All men who are German nationals between such and such an age must get a physical and register their current address," that would seem to be less legally objectionable. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage So, the US has apparently started bombing Kharg island. This is Iran's main oil export facility, handling like 90% of its oil exports. If Iran is prevented from exporting oil and can no longer derive a national benefit from keeping the strait open, that gives them a good motivation to further penalizing the US and US allies in the gulf for allowing this to happen. They'll mine the strait, because they'll have no reason not to at that point. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage Trump has dissolved most of our existing partnerships with the world and made us an unreliable nation with which to engage with in any but the most immediate and transactional ways. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage There is no strategy within MAGA as to how to return America to greatness or even a definition of what made America great to begin with. It is just thrashing about and persecution at a grand scale, which only hastens the decline. There is no reinvestment in science, education, industry and infrastructure, grand social and prestige projects, etc. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage That long decline, which I think a lot of Americans must feel in their bones, even while not being able to articulate it, is in large part the appeal of the MAGA "movement" and why it connects with so many. It lets them lay the blame for that decline on others, whether that is China, immigrants, godless liberals, elites, globalists - a barely concealed euphamism for Jews, LGBT. It is inarticulate raging with an inarticulate demagogue as its figurehead. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage The US is no longer the indispensable nation and the world could restructure it's trade flows and IP laws so as to isolate a bellicose US. Indeed, I consider it vital that they do so. Too many countries have made themselves far too dependent on the US and the regime is now willing to use that for naked coercion. Eliminating those dependencies is now critical to basic issues of sovereignty and national defense. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage The US is now a much smaller part of the overall global economy and industrial capacity. People forget how shattered much of the world's industry was after WW2, except for the US, which had been untouched by bombs. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage The place where ICE killed Jeffrey Pretti is about 3 miles from where I lived in Minneapolis as a kid and less than a mile from where I went to elementary school. I biked around the circuit of the lakes pretty frequently with my parents and sometimes went to the Uptown. Didn't frequent Nicollet, but I absolutely knew where this was right off the bat. Just unbelievable to me. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage Watch a whole lot of "Adrian's Digital Basement" on Youtube. He has a lot of CRT repair/reconditioning videos. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage There were people during WW2 who dissolved Nobek medals in acid and hid them as orange fluid in jars on shelves rather than let the Nazis have them. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage Sitting on a park bench minding my own business waiting for my train and a young woman comes up to me and asks me in good English if I am American. I say yes. She then proceeds to give me both middle fingers, does a little dance and hollers "Fuck you American!" Before turning on her heels and skipping away with a spring in her step. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage ICE's only legal argument in defense of its actions was that Renee Good was somehow perceived to be a vehicular threat to the officer who shot her. After she was shot, she was no longer any sort of threat and so denial of care is simply every ICE person on the scene deciding she needed to be dead. Not simply shot, but dead. It is utterly indefensible and IMO should make everyone there legally culpable in her murder. npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage #125: Woodstock Castle in Athy - Unimpressive looking at first glance, but a careful study of the stonework reveals a very interesting history of building and revision. Also a monkey once saved a nobleman's child from burning to death in a fire at the castle and the family has had a monkey on their coat of arms every since. Not joking. https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/822/413/456/905/061/original/62be6de375e901f4.jpg npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage #124: Tully's Castle in Clondalkin. Very cool and unique tower. Very thick walled with sizeable base battery and corbelled out machicolated corners. Castle is in a very precarious state with sizeable vertical cracks in all sides and fallen/unsecured stonework. Owner let me explore anyways. Yet another one with "King John's Castle" references made to it. Fairly large castle with a courtyard and a number of other sizeable towers. The gatehouse is impressive and takes the place of a keep. This is a 1 of 1 oddball original. It's a round tower house (almost non-existent in Ireland) with a very tall pyramidal base and window slits designed for plunging fire at attackers at said base. Has an unusual door set high up on the side of the tower whose use is highly speculative. Escape rope ladder? On the grounds of an art college which was vacant when I visited. Tower door was unlocked, so I explored. https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/821/950/459/104/996/original/8b281eb5b9ac93f0.jpg npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage #95: Nenagh Castle in County Tipperary. Very hard to convey this one in a photo. It's a motte like structure with a scooped out side set atop a much larger earlier earthwork (possible hill-fort or ceremonial site). Thought to have been thrown up in a hurry by Sir John de Courcy and possibly never finished. It may have been instrumental in winning him Ulster. The larger earthwork was probably not defensible by the small number of men he had, so he built a smaller one which was. That's the theory. https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/821/886/242/722/101/original/9ec816e44b0cbba7.jpg npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage #91 Moone Tower - Adjacent to Moone Abbey and later day manor. This is believed to be a so-called Ten Pound Tower - built as part of a sort of rebate scheme to fortify the English pale by building lots of small defensive towers like this one. It has three religious style windows inserted in one side and no nesting boxes. Was this previously a doocot and then it was converted at some point as a religious meeting house? Could this have been a Episcopalian place of worship back when only 3 people could legally meet with a minister for worship at a time? Or is this a later day Lorimer era art project? https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/864/482/570/804/original/167be5999c69dd7e.jpg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/865/692/734/919/original/fac284148b4e78ed.jpg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/866/379/255/610/original/eb29e2a7ec35c43b.jpg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/869/076/659/559/original/bc1df77fa3bb3ad1.jpg npub1v2uxevzwd3tkcdt8dnx36y08g5877tl8pmtmam40c96gns6pfevsd9cu69 Infoseepage The Kellie estate was parceled out multiple times and the Lorimers actually built their own doocot at the castle, located just next to the stables where Hew Lorimer had his sculpture studio. Hew was catholic and there is actually a small chapel at the castle in what was the oldest tower's hall. You'll see why that is important in a second. https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/854/677/588/830/original/9fb9a87e134ebe05.jpg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/855/117/912/740/original/fe50352cce33f28d.jpg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/856/213/752/887/original/8d6dfc61a3146519.jpg https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/115/072/859/166/223/666/original/36294ec0425681c0.jpg
