looks nice but I don't know if that means Impress is any more usable. I find Writer to be perfectly competent in most uses. Calc to be full of friction. I'm still baffled why table formatting doesn't seem to get the respect it should. Impress has never been useful for me. I mean it's there and everything just not useful. Esp with morph now it's rough doing fun five minute presentations without morph.

I think you're conflating a couple of things though. We're talking about USING social media not paying for advertising.
We're talking about things like promoting corrective measures (ride your scooter on the road), advertising local events (check out this heritage festival), announcing holidays and meetings.
A better version of the local newsletter your representative sends you every month.

for sure. government works best when people know what it's going and the internet is just another way to let people know what it's doing. that includes websites AND social media. It can be things like advertising local programs. Letting people know about local issues like weather alerts or crime issues. There's a LOT of legit uses.
Equally there are plenty of examples of inanity but that doesn't discount the former.

yeah unfortunately even though it solves the problems. there's no one here. IMO They'll follow most of the twitter crowd and end up at Bluesky. We'd need some real forward thinkers to get an account on mastodon. Even a bot one reposting stuff could be useful.

Shame because Mastodon provides a solution to a LOT of the problems people had with twitter. You don't need to worry about validation or nazi content when you have your own instance.
But in the end engagement will have 80% of the control over where they end up.

It's so repetitive hearing this over and over and over again. Like looking at paint samples of 17 different types of white.
It's 10 times more frustrating that each time I sit through one of these it's JUST as relevant as the last if not more so.

oh how delightful. So here's mine. How important is cleaning between inks. I have a bunch of sample inks. I load up about 1-1.5cm of ink and then use it for a while. When I'm done there's a 30min ceremony of cleaning. What if I … don't. Is it just that the inks won't be true (which is fine for me) or will it go full Michael Bay? How serious is this?

My gift for my sister is easy. Spy X Family Weiss Schwarz Trial Deck. It's perfect. It's got her characters. It's a game she can play once and then just look at the fun cards.
Now my sister's gift to my sister is gonna be more tricky. I'm thinking it might be ink so she can play with her new dip pen. It shall be glorious because there's no way she's gonna expect it and I'm posting this so she knows how long ago I planned this.

I guess I got kinda lucky because yeah I haven't been too interested in any of the recent SE colors with an exception for the Harry Potter colors. Those were compelling but the upcharge and Harry Potter factor were way out of my range.
I do kind of want another so I can have two and I also want to try some others to see how they handle differently.

Only have one pen and yeah i have it and a notebook with three traveler's inserts. Clip the pen into the front cover and it's a pocket sized carry on.

Thanks for the information. Crazy part (to me) was that I tried switching back to the lamy catridge and it was fine. went back to the ink and problems.

At this point the only conclusion I can make is that I made a mistake getting an extrafine nib. I'm gonna have to see if I can get a fine nib and test it out. Because with EF the only things that look the way I want are really the cartridges.
If I get some money I might just buy another #LAMYSafari so I can do side by sides faster.

Testdriving new ink finally (only have 1 pen. I'm new here) Rohrer & Klinger Verdura.
My big takeaway is that it's flowing MUCH MUCH better than what I had previously.
The #FerrisWheelPress - FerriTales - Oinking Embers is apparently shimmer and I guess the extra fine nib I have is just too small for the bits of shimmer. I eventually wrote out my draw and the Verdura is at least consistently flowing from the pen.
That said it's still not as heavy as the LAMY cartridges.

for me the value is that unlike pocket which reloads the article because it's web-based. Joplin just downloads the article so I have a small markdown file basically which can be helpful when it comes to websites that only give X free articles a month. It happened once I went back to a saved article to read it and I was out of free articles and i was blocked and annoyed.

poorly. I have a joplin extension that allows me to save the articles locally. I really want a unified system I can use on mobile and desktop but i haven't found it yet. Maybe once I get my NAS up and running I'll be able to sue that.

wait so by that logic they don't care about the hostages if they get the TrumpSpa. Not the gates will be open until we get the hostages back... but gates will be open until we can build a resort. Kinda sounds like the hostages are an afterthought... maybe a justification. Like maybe they don't even plan on getting them back and really just want a day spa.

Little Brother falls under this. While I think the prose isn't fantastic. It does a fantastic job of explaining. Explaining why resistance and collective action. Explaining how technology works. Explaining why privacy matters and how privacy works. It makes for a fantastic reference and an okay story.

They solve a single problem that isn't a problem. It solves the "watches aren't in fashion" problem. So wearing a smart watch is great and useful but watches themselves are so old fashioned.
But like a touch screen or rotary nob gear shift. It throws out an insane amount of utility and haptic feedback in favor of being "innovation".
