a downside to decentralized: since no one "owns" anything, anyone can be anyone, like the "anonymous" hackers can put out all sorts of announcements because anyone can pretend to be anonymous

I don't have a problem with that because this is the frontier, so of course you're going to get new functionality that isn't rolled up into a standard, yet. If we wait for standard bodies decentralized social media will beat centralized sometime around the year 2324. I think it makes sense functionality should come first, then it is standardized later. Waiting for standards bodies is not how you innovate.

so my point here is that voting is nothing but cold strategy. it's not an emotional thing
the problem is that it gets so emotional

i voted for bernie in primaries, i donated to him
i think the DNC shafted him
of course, i voted in the general for hillary
voting is always just cold strategy, never a love letter
not voting (or voting 3rd party in our current system) is always failure, an abdication of social responsibility
if everyone on the left voted, many of our chronic problems would evaporate overnight
