He started off working for someone and eventually went on his own like 20 years ago. Getting established obviously isn't fast. He has relationships with several contractors and multiple supply companies. Honestly it's amazing how much he has going on for such a small outfit. I got insight into how it all runs and honestly I don't blame people for going W2. It's a ton of work and you have to get a backlog going to get a steady pay stream since jobs aren't paid out immediately

I try to take a reasonable stance and be fair on these sorts of issues. I fully understand that I am on a pretty extreme end of the technical spectrum and don't expect everyone to do as I do. Even though this issue isn't really that hard, most people view it that way and probably just do what is easiest. And what's easiest is incredibly insecure for most people without something like passkeys or even SMS that I hate (I reserve the right to sometimes make inflammatory statements 😂)

Maybe it will be feasible at some point but have you looked at how much it costs to make gold right now? Lol It's really goofy and I doubt we're just going to wake up to a sudden finding that reks the gold market. Call it downplaying but physics is what it is. It may never be economically viable.

Yeah I've seen some of the rigor involved in DIY electrical work lol Funny enough, this was one area where I actually saw in real time where the major codes came from. None of them were particularly unfair or burdensome to anyone who doesn't want to die or burn their structure down. You wouldn't believe some of the dumb shit we fixed. The bigger issue in my experience was the quality of inspectors. That's where the scam was in some jurisdictions, usually in Nowhereville. The codes themselves were pretty fair there are avenues for proper DIY work in my state at least. As for licensing, those rules pertain to people who do that work for money, not people who do work for themselves.

I think there's a broad misunderstanding of what multitasking actually means. Multitasking is reading a book while driving a car, not reading a book and then driving a car to a place and then reading the book again.
I guess you could read a page, drive a mile, pull over to read a page, and so on, but you're going to finish that book very slowly and take forever to get home. Neither task will get the best of you and you'll waste a ton of time and energy on the switching.
That's what multitasking actually is. There's a very real cost to slowing down, stopping, and accelerating again. That's where the losses happen.
You can change the scale and there are times when walking away to work on something else is productive (I do this when I am frustrated). But that isn't the same thing as multitasking.
Here's a common example from my own job. I'm expected to fill out a report for a specific event, but I have someone asking me to do something for a patient, and another person asking me to do something else for their patient. I can't realistically do all of this, and so I'm forced to switch gears constantly. I can prioritize and I do, but the list simply doesn't stop growing.
Ah, finally, back to this report. Where was I? Oh yeah... Type type type... "Hey, Matt, can you...?" All day, every day. And I'm leaving the job because I literally can't do it. My mistakes have massively increased and there are things I just dont do. Like I'm supposed to but I literally can't in the time and space I have so I break the rules and don't do them. This makes me feel like shit, and I just can't do what is expected (multitasking). This is the burnout.
The equivalent would be to have my manager meet with me while she's on a virtual meeting, but she doesn't. She closes her door and puts a sign on it telling people to fuck off. Because she can't actually multitask either. And I can tell you for sure that she just lets some things go too. In my case, me. I can't recall the last time I was able to secure any serious amount of time away from their meetings, and there are three of them managing me.
This is what many jobs expect, not what you're describing. They want you to be in two places at once and it's just a retarded thing that needs to die. I've had several jobs like this and they explicitly wanted the ability to multitask. Turnover and burnout is always incredibly high.
Multitasking isn't just switching between tasks either. It's attempting to do multiple things at once, with focus on each thing. Almost no one actually does this, even though many of us are good at pretending we do. All I'm saying is we should stop pretending.
Now obviously this depends. Your employer may very well have their own definition and expectations, but I think my experience is pretty broad from my research on the topic.

Fitting multiple tasks into a given amount of time is not the same as multitasking and I've seen nothing but shit tier work from people who seriously try to focus on more than one task at a time. If they can, they do very low value work.

2026-10-20 02:36:04 GMT

"The ability to multitask" is a myth that really needs to die. After years paying attention to myself and others, I think it's one of the primary causes of burnout and turnover in the American workforce.

Call it whatever you want. It isnt like other technologies haven't taken similar routes. We just expect everything to happen right now because we're so spoiled.
Here are some things that took longer for mass adoption than Bitcoin has even existed for. You've probably heard of some of them:
Electricity
Flushing toilets
Automobiles
Commercial internet
Telephones
Radio
TV
Fax
Infrastructure was probably a hangup for most of those. And I think the current issue is an infrastructure one too. Except there's already an existing infrastructure that half the world can access. They don't yet realize there's a better option. Other people are, just not those you think should be.
It's also pretty common for new technologies to have fluctuations in adoption rates. And you're presupposing that "adoption" means what you think it should mean. My point is that it may not be and may shift.
I'm just trying to put aside my bullish biases. When I do, I see similarities to other things and admittedly don't like the implication. But that doesn't mean it's cope or untrue. And there's no law that says adoption must go my way at the pace I think it should. It's being used, whether or not I like how.

Most people are sheep and have to be led there. I imagine this will become more popular once people realize they want to spend their asset. Currently, the world is stuck on having to sell an asset for dollars which they then spend. I think people inevitably figure out they can cut that step. Or get fiat loans easier than with pretty much anything else given how easily custody can transfer.
And the normies won't notice until the 1% do. Which is exactly what he seems to be saying is happening. Isnt it always that way? I think people like us tend to lose track or just how rare we are as early adopters.
