Books are awesome. So many perspectives documented and shelved away (pre-digital) to slowly slip into nothingness.
I’ve haphazardly built my collection from (HS &) college reads, hobbies & interests, professional needs, and instant gratifications / guilty pleasures. It’s been my life’s work, and operating my daily fiat-mining from within the stacks satisfies my earliest yearnings to be surrounded by knowledge.
Have I read all these? Hell no. Do I still aspire to? Hah! I know that time is the most limited resource and that most of this material does not make the cut for my attention. Still, they look nice, m’kay?

This section comes from my bachelors degree in communications and subsequent MFA in filmmaking (wtf was younger me thinking?!) As a lad I was way into McLuhan, Shanks, and a bunch of essays on television’s evolution (c.1985) and the new category of “blockbusters”. Understanding where “new media” came from, what it had become, how to create it, and its power over humankind. 🤯

We've got only 8 days until we get on the big ol' jet airliner, but there's soooo much work to do before then.

#[0] and I will be presenting at #Nostrasia (Yin stage at 10:45 on day 1) and we have a lot to share. The sites are nearly ready for demo, but the slides and video... not so much. That's okay, we have some time this week to wrap stuff up.

The process of pairing to build reactive websites with NDK has been rewarding in many ways. Imagining what could be has been a delight, and the technical learning is opening many new doors of discovery. As a father-daughter team, the experience of building and traveling to Tokyo is truly irreplaceable and is the biggest benefit of all.
Thanks to you who have attended our NostrOC meetups. Your feedbackand ideas have been super helpful, and we appreciate y'all. No new meetups on the calendar for now. I'll list something in November after I get back from Nostrville (TN) and provide a full update on both events.

Feel like we’ve been sprinting for months, but amazingly have boundless energy. #PacificBitcoin in the rear view mirror, #nostrasia on the horizon, and #nostrville sneaking up quietly.
Pairing with @npub1afn…qdtu in a fine groove; we made some solid advances in the projects over the weekend, and still had plenty of time with family, friends, and music in nature under the sun, laughing.

Breakthroughs are not predictable, but we can increase the odds in a few ways.
First, step away from the problem, literally. Get outta the chair, head outside and keep walking. Exercise and fresh air, not to mention a change of scenery and cognitive focus, are good for the brain.
Also try solving other problems and puzzles. Smaller things. Get back inside your comfort zone and build up wins; the momentum to charge once again at the big challenge at the edge of your skills.
Sure enough, NDK is becoming clearer to me as I meet new challenges head on.
Building with NDK is mostly a rewarding experience. The docs site at https://ndk.fyi/docs is helpful, and there are a couple good videos available by @npub1zuu…c2uc that walk us newbs through the onboarding.
Yet when we get stuck, there’s too few sites and sources to get us unstuck. (What do you mean “event.publish is not a function”? Yes it is. Says so in the docs!!) ugghh
When we’re done hacking ananostr we’ll post the video of our process. Until then, pain.

I’ve (usually) tried to align my behaviors/actions (& career) toward gratitude and service. Feels good, and shapes who I long term want to be. It is vital to take the high road and commit to good vibes, positive energy.

Held our sixth Nostr OC meetup last night. Beginning to attract visitors 🤙🏼
My #nostrasia partner @npub1afn…qdtu and I use the time to demo our latest features and refine our presentation chops.
When others attend, we hear their needs / talk their topics.
We find that reliable wifi and 4-7 chairs around a table is all we really need, and we encourage attendees to bring devices (laptops if developing features).
Overall, the meetup is a great experience in helping us to better understand the tech to hone our messaging.
Oh, and the new people we meet is a great value!

When the weather allows (pretty much all year here in SoCal), I prefer to start the day outside with affirmations and light writing. I’m very fond of Obsidian.
When we have meetings (over slack, zoom, teams, etc) or I need other apps, I prefer to be inside; but morning pages and building with NDK needs to be outdoors for me, in our nostrgardn, as it were.

Here at NostrGardn there are many plants, critters, trees, and a pool. (We’re thinking of swapping the pool for a small pond and/or a hot tub 🤷🏾♂️)
Most of the time, everyone is amicable to each other. During a storm (Hillary) all bets are off.

I’m but a slo-and-smol-brained pleb dev. Past experience with Perl, Java, and (my fave back then) PHP. Never took formal classes. Always cowboy. Truly grug.
I haven’t coded full time in over 15 years, and dropped out altogether for the past 9-10. Muscles atrophied.
Still, dev makes me happy in oh so many ways. Learning svelte takes it up a notch. Dev with Nostr is even more rad. Programming w a buddy, throw another log on the fire.
The next steps include going public with our meager project and getting feedback (or 🦗), with NostrAsia and Nostrville right around the corner.
I encourage others who’ve never built sw or forgot more than they ever learned (?) to not be afraid. It’s fun to start and easy to find help & encouragement. #youcandoit

Here at the #gardn we're enjoying a beautifully mild morning. No sight of Hillary this soon, though the birds have been flocking WSW since last evening and the myriad tree spirits are extraordinary chatty.
What is Agile Coffee? [needle yanked across vinyl]
I came up with the name to use for our meetups a decade ago as an homage to Lean Coffee, the meeting facilitation technique I'd picked up not long before. The brand began to expand to include my podcast (80+ epis), coaching cards, videos, and more. I've long been "the Coffee guy" at conferences and in my classes. It's been fun, but tethered to my vocation more than anything.
The winds are changing, or perhaps it's the tilt of the earth - slowly, imperceptibly.
Synonymous with Agile is adaptive, nimble, flexible; there's an obligation to alter course as conditions demand. That's something I love about teaching and working with teams: conditioning people and organizations to recognize the pros (& cons) of the pivot and embrace the ability to adapt. As the saying goes, the only certainty is change... and death and taxes, but that's for a different post.
Facing the inevitable, I've accepted that I either must walk away from Agile Coffee or refactor it to suit my future. For now I'm choosing the latter. There is no possibility for me of staying involved in an idea I've outgrown. I've got no time (energy, passion) left for it. "Seasons change and so do I. You need not wonder why."
The direction i'm headed will certainly lose a good portion of my audience and friends. To be honest, I'm not even sure where exactly my path is headed, just that I must take it. I know that i will still be teaching and coaching, but there won't be a "certifying authority" so tightly coupled to what i do and say. (Yes, Nostr fit like a glove when i first picked it up.) I plan to teach my current CSM, etc. classes for another year or two before leaving that fiat system altogether.
The Agile Coffee podcast will continue as well. Honestly, it's been a while since putting one out, and I need to get some topics into the air. Chances are high that you have never known of, let alone listened to my podcast or watched my Coffeehouse videos - their viewerships are limited and the topics rather niche. Still, I'm so proud to have produced them, and I'll surely keep producing them - just with topics that aren't quite so fenced in. And frankly, I'm eager to see how the format transitions and how the audience changes. There's a lot of work to be done, and I'm truly excited to see what lies ahead on the journey.
