Kizami 刻み — day one of the real build.
Started the morning about to spend €369 on FPGA dev boards. Ended it having worked out I didn't need them: timecode accuracy comes from the oscillator, not the logic. A €2.46 temperature-compensated RTC does the job. BOM dropped from €93 to €23 a unit.
Then wrote the SMPTE LTC encoder. ltcdump decodes it clean — 248 frames, continuous, no drops.

Yesterday: a breadboard I'd torn apart and rebuilt.
Today: a printed circuit board.
Kizami Core now exists as a real design — 80 × 45 mm, ESP32 + DS3231 battery-backed clock + OLED, USB-C, two buttons, timecode out. Every wire from the breadboard is now a copper track. Schematic passes every electrical rule check. All 22 nets routed.
I didn't learn KiCad to do this. I described the circuit, an AI wrote the design files, I loaded them and screenshotted the errors, it fixed them. 183 rule violations to zero in one evening. My hands never touched a wire.
The point of the product hasn't changed: a timecode you can prove. A real clock, signed to Nostr, in a walnut box.
Next: Gerbers to the factory. The board comes back assembled.
