A little trick to get yourself to make more interesting compositions, making things off center, or dividing them into zones. Very useful, and you probably came to it naturally because it looks good. There's something there in the math that the human brain likes in its art.

I'm not always actively thinking of it, but the good shots I take often fall under it.
Good composition using rule of thirds. Bottom third is foreground, middle has layers reaching to the horizon, with the top being pure sky. Gives the image a feeling of depth. The creek in the center gives you something to focus on that leads you further into the frame.

Modern gaming is all fucked up. Thankfully decompilations are getting really good so communities can take old actually good games and port them to modern systems. I've been having more fun with that than commercial gaming for over a year now.
