You could run something like this on basically any hardware. You could run a lambda function that does this every minute of every day and still be in the free tier.
Set a limit order. Cash app can do that.
But also just buy it. In 12-18 months you won't care if you bought at 36k or 37k.
Oh yeah I'm totally going to clip an internet connected "ai" camera to my chest and walk around all day.
3/23/24 - 100 days from 12/1. Gonna check in on ya!

Sadly I would bet damn close to that 60% are even worse off than paycheck to paycheck.

I always think it's so cool when I see two blocks get mined at almost the same time. Like statistically I know it's going to happen sometimes but it just feels special to witness it.
The corollary of that is NOT true. When I have to wait 20/30/longer minutes for a block to mine I'm almost always annoyed 😂
Will apply through the link this evening. @npub1get…0nfm #willworkforbitcoin 😉 Let's talk
I have:
- 6 years of Go experience, AWS, GCP
- I now lead a team of 10 Go/Typescript, backend, frontend, platform, and data engineers working on a high availability CDP platform servicing ~2 billion requests a day with 99.999% uptime this year
- I have almost 2 years of experience with Kubernetes/Helm
- I've run my own Lightning node for 3 years with a stint of about 12 months routing payments. I used LND, LNDg, Lightning Terminal, Ride The Lightning
- In my non-work life I self host my own infrastructure, homelab, servers, NAS, cloud infrastructure providing many services to family and friends.
And finally, I have wanted to move into working in the Bitcoin/Lightning space. I am convicted that Bitcoin is the future and I want to help build it any way I can.
😂 so I guess my payment routed lmaoooo
I can't wait to switch to CLN. I've had so much drama with LND
I'm still gonna zap you 😉 eventually
Yep confirmed by trying to zap someone else. Problem is with my node.
Gonna restart LND
Maybe my node for some reason but I can't get a zap to you either.
I also tried to pay from nostr.thesamecat.io and can't get a route to you 😄
I get redirected to https which doesn't work. If I try to resend the form http it sends me back to /
I was able to reach / but /invoices is unreachable for me
I've had to RMA 4 different Seagate drives in the last 3 years. RAID has saved my ass but I'll never buy Seagate drives again.
I wanted to go! But I was barely even in town all month except to work.
Got that 5 year warranty? Just put in a RMA.
I was so busy in October that I missed it 😔
Amethyst has location support

And make sure you're on your human's dining table while you do it. Make a point to make direct eye contact for a painfully extended amount of time for extra effect.
I see you at 601 brother man
They're*... Fuck, off work for two days and I turned into an idiot
Sorry 😔 I hesitated to make the joke but it's because their so damn good at inventing things that are fantastically useful
At the risk of generalizing a whole group of people: I'd totally agree with you.
That might... That might actually exist lol
Gotta get on the bidet train bro. My butt is always clean.
I actually like this time change because I can shift my wake up time an hour earlier and get more done in the mornings.
Spring forward ruins me though.
I just don't even try any more. In the last run up I had a bunch of friends actually buy Bitcoin only to learn they sold it weeks later.
When one of them was bragging about making $300 it was so fucking hard not to tell him he fucked up.
I can't believe anyone would leave an astronomy class... Mine was such a great class.
The cold and dry weather has just destroyed my nose 😔 not sick (yet) but so uncomfortable
Damn @npub1h8n…rpev POPPED OFF on Bitcoin Audible Read_775 this week 🔥
My condolences on the grafana thing. We had some frustration with grafana and Prometheus that was annoying
The thing that immediately comes to mind is propogating Bitcoin blocks over LoRa
Yea I would love to set up some kind of non-IP network. I've recently been thinking of getting my Ham license.
This is extremely cool!
My address is 6468578ea84446aff17605b8877afe9e
Very interested but don't see this in my fdroid. Is there a repo for it?
I don't see how you have that name and not love gold.
Happy birthday to little homie!
Dude idk. When you find out let me know.
What's your set up? Do any HA stuff?
It's not a Google phone. Baseband and OS get rewritten with de-googled FOSS software. Graphene on a Pixel is THE way to get privacy on a mobile right now.
If your threat model includes not trusting the HW modems, CPUs, RAM then I'm sorry... you're fucked buddy.
Fuck you.
...
Sorry man, you're a good person and I shouldn't have said that.
Coinbase is playing stupid games and looks like they're about to win some stupid prizes.
I've mellowed in my elder years 😂
It presents the same on mobile for me

What the fuck is an "illegal money transmitting business"?
With my energy prices I'd get about 0.000025 BTC per day. Not worth it at all IMO.
Buy non-KYC sats on robosats or bisq.
What are your energy costs? S9's have to be running at a loss now right?
Look at the #bond market on fucking fire, #halving happening in 6 months, #ETF all but inevitable sometime in the next 6 months, #USA paying more interest on the #debt burden than fucking defense.... Then couple #nostr and #lightning showing us the decentralized social use case for #bitcoin.
I am so absolutely, irresponsibly fucking bullish. If you're not moving mountains to #stack more #sats you aren't doing it right.

I luckily do have a Dell R610 that serves as my powerhouse Docker server. But I'm almost out of storage in my NAS and my slots are full. My next NAS will probably be a rack mount 4U.
I have one and outgrew it very quickly. It's not worth it at all from a HW standpoint.
Different beliefs, same values my friend 💜 I'm with you
I listened to The Daily podcast episode called "Voices of Gaza" yesterday and hearing them describe their experience... One of the women I could tell was such a bubbly, happy person in her everyday life outside of this conflict.
Everyday people dying because of geopolitics.
I'm not but I've been thinking about them a lot. It's so heartbreaking.
I like the group that correlated Congresspeople's homes and activities from an "anonymous" data set as an awareness stunt.
Can't find a link right now though.
If you get this and we don't get a video I'm gonna be so disappointed
I stopped scrolling and got lost for a sec 😂 Realized what I was staring at before my fiance noticed and gave me a "wtf?!"
Yeahhhh there's some eps we've had to eye bleach with something lighthearted before bed
Bro I am so hooked. S02 finale is next.
It's brilliant, shocking, fun, enlightening. I'll probably watch it through again to see if I pick up on more of the social commentary. So good.
We were doing that for a while too. Got to season 3 and got distracted by Ted Lasso and The Boys
Damn dude, you're really pumping through them
Yeah totally. Streaming services caught on to that game pretty quickly 😄
I have so many half full notebooks it's not even funny.
Welcome! We think @npub1wtu…e7js is cool and we're glad you're here too!
I would assume they absolutely, unequivocally collect what you type.
I use Gboard with networking blocked in my firewall.
Pixel with Graphene is as good as you're going to get. Which is pretty good in my experience.
Services will normally block ranges of numbers associated with burner numbers.

I was not ready for the onslaught of metronome marching my earholes were going to get when I unmuted that one lol
SO FUCKING LOUD HOLY SHIT
#nevent1q…m3s5
Hm well I have had to RMA 4 drives in the last several years... I've been blaming Seagate but now you've got me thinking it was my node wrecking my drives
Anyone who has watched the #bitcoin price action today and doesn't see it as a full indication of what's to come over the next 18-24 months.... I don't know what to tell you.
Get it while the getting is hot.
pretty sure we've got a ton of homeless and hungry people here who could use that money but fuck them
Oh CAN WE now?
#nevent1q…nc42
I have media files served over NFS to my dedicated media server. I have a Ryzen Synology and it doesn't handle transcode well. Have had no speed issues with serving the files though.
These are usually made with EDM which you could do at home in a Tupperware bin (though not this well)
Hell yeah man nice work! Keep it going
I aimed for a 10-15° leg bend at full extension for better power output and comfort. When I got into road cycling in 2020 I played around with it a lot, watched an absolute ton of videos on bike fit.
At the end of the day though whatever works for you and doesn't cause injury is right!
So the #SEC isn't going to appeal the #GBTC decision. Odds keep on going up for a spot #ETF.
#Halving, #fedpivot, ETF... Cards are all lining up for #bitcoin to rip faces in 2024-2025.
https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/10/13/sec-reportedly-decides-not-to-appeal-its-bitcoin-etf-court-loss-against-grayscale/
Thanks! My fiance did it so I'll let her know you said so haha
I haven't had a bike fit so I could be set up totally wrong lol But I'm pretty comfortable, can put power down, reach the ground and good reach to cockpit.
Oh shit, a fixie. You must have legs like tree trunks.
Yea I think you're right. Directly comparing it to my ride, Serg's definitely looks higher. I'm 5'10".
https://image.nostr.build/a70690ba50da37af30ab9f2bb4286b1e6955b905dbfc2fb96518d2fc42b371a6.jpg
There's only 4500BTC on the network. I'd be shocked if they amass anywhere close to 1000BTC.
I would not be shocked if they rug though...
No issues for me. No NVME caching. I have a RAID5 pool with 6x 7200RPM drives.
It's been a long time but I don't remember my initial sync taking longer than a day.
Looks to be about same height as mine. You 5'10-6'? @npub16se…jdxk
How can I get notified when movie nights happen? Would love to watch a flick and shoot the shit sometime.
And I guess for your question about what I recommend: I am very happy with my set up. There's a future point in time where I'm going to need to reallocate more storage to the VM running my node which will be a pain in the ass. But I allocated enough storage that will not happen until sometime 2027. I'm outgrowing this Synology and plan on custom building a rack NAS before that time comes. Likely 2025.
I use a Synology NAS. My bitcoind and lnd are running in docker on a VM.
One thing I learned: don't use an NFS share for your data dir. The blockchain is a ton of little files and disk I/O will make your node SO SLOW.
Can't speak to Citadel though, sorry.
A channel is sort of like a rung on an abacus. All of your counters stay on the rung but you slide them back and forth.
When your counters are mostly on the near (local) side, you're limited on how many more counters can be brought over to your side but you have plenty to send. This is outbound liquidity.
Conversely, when most of your counters are are the far (remote) side, you're limited by how many counters you can send but you can receive many. This is inbound liquidity.
This looks great for social sharing e.g. here. A "watch together" like you're suggesting would be cool
This gets a watch at least once most years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOjSRoxc6mg
It's so bad it's good and I don't know if they meant to do that.
I've used SolarMovie.pe before but tbh I don't really know how it works. It's not great bandwidth but fills in when I don't have something in my library.
Happy to help advise or answer questions if it helps.
My home 😊 Beautiful. Going backpacking in a couple weeks and our camp spot is next to a stream very similar to this.
This looks familiar. Appalachia?
Love these things. I use an Intel NUC 11 i7 as my home theater PC.
I fucking love water
#nevent1q…f7r7
In the spirit of sparking conversations I want to have on #nostr:
My fiance has a friend that had this broken part for her fridge that she could not find a replacement for. She asked if I could #3dprint one for her. I fired up #FreeCAD and modeled the part in maybe a couple hours and printed it in a couple more.
https://image.nostr.build/7825118e092b4803b17bb24cc4a38a0fa879757c42c7d1664e9d76c5fdd44e5c.jpg
It's not exactly the same but it's sturdier even than the original part. Really happy with how it turned out and it works perfectly.
#3dprinting #engineering #part #design #freecad #autocad #solidworks #fdm #grownostr
Been unplugged this weekend. More news on the war front?
Make nostr what you want it to be #grownostr
#nevent1q…gy79
Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately most of us learn the importance of having proper backups the hard way 😔
My what a violent thing to say 😂
I shoot for 5 million sat channels. It's more important for routing success for the network to have fewer big well connected channels than a bunch of small channels.
The answer depends on your capitalization.
So glad to have #nostr
#nevent1q…edqu
Ordering take out and decided to check out Door Dash for our favorite Chinese restaurant. Added a couple items but then noticed the prices were DOUBLE, plus service fee, tip and all that the order would've been nearly 2.5 times more than we pay the store.
Fucking criminals.
I'm not on Twitter and haven't been for a long time. I had a sense that this might be how it was but didn't quite realize the scope.
Bout to do a VLOOKUP in that bedroom
I wouldn't even begin to know how to report that. Fuck
I have always wanted to go to Japan 🤔 That one might take some planning to get to
More fuel for the fire: Several high level engineers at my company just told me they didn't trust open source software.
I should go to a #nostr #conference. I want to meet some of you awesome folks.
They can't stop folks making them but they sure as hell could toss us in prison forever.
Yea I think "ghost guns" sounds cool as hell too.
But "ghost guns" the phrase has a connotation to people not in the know. And theres a push to illegalize them.
"Personally manufactured firearms" is the preferred name. It better conveys that making your own firearm has never been wrong or illegal and neither should 3D printing them.
Though I do have a base config and then specific host configs that automatically switch based on the hostname.
Not CI/CD but a cron job that runs a script that git pulls my nixos config from my git server and does a nixos-rebuild switch.
Then I also have syncthing syncing my home dir for all app configs/states across machines. It feels damn close to using the same computer when I switch from my laptop to my desktop.
Running a node is not for the faint of heart. It's not the hardest thing ever but if you're not "technical" there's a lot to learn to get going.
Wallet Of Satoshi is a custodial wallet a lot of people use if that doesn't bother you.
All that said I've been a bitcoiner a long time and lightning is cool as hell.
I loaded it up once to check it out but didn't fund it or really use it. Looked pretty cool though
Ah yea both of those are node wallets. Can't speak too much to others. I think Muun, Mutiny, Phoenix are popular but no idea if they're open source or good.
Neat that'll be a fun one. A bunch of stablecoins getting annihilated is going to make a lot of noise (and buying opportunities for BTC.)
I've got an /etc/nixos that I'm pretty happy with. All my machines get a very similar env. Love it
Zeus but there's a bug in v0.7.7 that keeps my from scanning lndconnect QR so I'm using Bitbanana.
Both are good IMO
That's incredible! Happy birthday
Yea I feel that. Kind of a nostalgic feeling of the good old days of not being connected all the time.
Really didn't anticipate that being how it would end up lol I dreamed of having like a Star Trek data pad or like a tricorder. Now we basically have it and I hate it.
Before I discovered Calyx and Graphene I considered going dumb phone life and carrying a Linux laptop around.
If you find any Linux phone that's good I want to know. Graphene gets me close enough to owning my mobile but a true Linux smartphone (that is good) is the goddamn holy grail for me.
You're going to die anyway. Give em fucking hell while you're here.

I appreciate this take. Thanks for putting it out there.
It couldn't be more transparent how everyone scrambles to say "I stand with..." And from a lot of people who have zero stake in the conflict.
It's always made me feel gross to witness it.
I don't care one bit if they did. What exactly does it change?
The attack vector is almost always a password that's too simple, or reused. Passkeys are pub/priv based and not reused. It's a challenge and response auth versus basic auth. The PIN makes it something you have and something you know so adds another layer of security.
I hate Google too but passkeys are sound.
The price would go up and then some of us would experience slippage. Almost immediately bots would sell it back down.
Just set up a migration on my git server. Can't stop the signal.
https://git.dvdt.dev/david/nostr-rs-relay
I already had a server but that's probably the biggest thing to figure out.
Space is 62MB because I'm only storing my data. Maintenance was 10 mins to spin up the container, 10 mins to configure it to only allow my NIP-05 domain. I have a script on my proxy server to set up TLS and a reverse proxy. I haven't touched it since.
I can run a relay from my house (I do) and make it look like it's anywhere else in the world (I do).
They can't do shit and I dare them to try.
I've gotten back on the #bike this week. Feels good to be pedaling again.
That 5 for $5 deal was so fire
Idk if I can become any more bullish
About 15 mins in and enjoying so far. Didn't realize Damus is operating on a Bitcoin standard. That's seriously dope
Ya got a follow. /r/bitcoinmarkets is the only thing keeping me going back to Reddit on occasion.
Different concerns there but a difference between them.
The more utxos you have the more fees you'll pay when spending them but the more privacy you'll enjoy from not exposing the balance of your holdings. The fewer utxos you have the less privacy you enjoy but you'll have lower fees when spending.
Like most things in life it's a trade off you make based on your specific goals. The ideal for you is likely somewhere in the middle. For example I have several very large utxos that are my cold storage. I have many more medium and small utxos that I can choose from for spending based on amount, trust in the other party, etc. Generally I'm only spending to my lightning node for channel opens so I obviously don't care that balance is exposed to myself.
That said you could always mix it down to smaller UTXOs (for a cost)
Privacy mostly. You'll expose a minimum baseline for your holdings to anyone you pay.
Fiance mentioned the election next year in passing and I thought, "Oh fuck the shitshow is on it's way."
I can already hear the propaganda machines spinning up all the way from here.
This reads like a literal spy story.
You didn't let me down man. I finished S03 and quite happy with it. Some super small consistency issues but all in all they were true to the characters and their values. And it was damn good fun.
Appreciate the tip 🤙
That's a portable guillotine for when your politicians start acting up while you're away from home. Veeeery popular in France circa late 1700s to early 1800s.
Unfortunately the answer is "from experience." Everything comes with trade offs and knowing when to use subqueries versus temp tables is more around the context of the problem and the experience of doing things the wrong way.
I'd recommend toy problems or building little tools in a dev env to get that kind of experience.
What kind of really good? What's your goal?
Just watched the first one and wow I wish this is what we got.
Read in the voice of Roy Kent
"Fuck no!"
#nevent1q…r4jq
Yep 100% have days like that. Sometimes I need to force myself to face it and sometimes I need to isolate. Both are okay.
Hope your day gets better though man 🫂
Yeah for me "Buy Bitcoin. Hold." would be my three.
Give me directives. Gives me the name. By the time Bitcoin comes across my radar I would've been thinking about it many years and might actually hold it.
I've had that whisky. Really good.
That's a nice lookin pew pew you got there
I still don't know what ZBD is and I refuse to learn because of their idiotic posts about "sorry, we're building in public" every time they do something dumb.
Sure comes across desperate doesn't it?
Going through airport security and said to my fiance, "When you look around right now... do you feel free?"
She said I'm Ron Swanson incarnate and that made me proud.
And so far anyway since v0.77.5 that sideways view change issue I have been dealing with hasn't happened again. Thanks gents!
Pour over absolutely tastes better it's not even a question
Really glad you told me this. A couple episodes into season 3 and it's great so far.
Vanadium for Android
Librewolf for PC (Linux, sorry can't speak to Win or Mac)
Yep, sourced directly from GitHub
I cleared storage and uninstalled both and started from scratch. Now Amethyst crashes when I try to log in with Amber @npub1gcx…nj5z
I'm running GrapheneOS so wonder if that's because of app sandboxing?
I can't seem to post notes when logged in with Amber. The button is missing. What am I doing wrong?
They just tend to include their own changes. Which in my experience were less than stable. Arch can break too but you'll generally get a warning from archlinux.org.
I switched to nixos recently and totally love it. No more inconvenient breaking changes and I can roll anything back at any time.
Prepare to have things break randomly. Arch was much better for me.
Oh man I was just about to write it off for good.
Anyone watched Star Trek Picard?
Holy shit it's HORRIBLE. Allow me to sum up season 2:
The Borg attack and so Q sends the crew to a timeline where everyone is evil and Picard is a genocidal maniac. They don't want that to happen so they use the Borg queen to fly around the sun REALLY FAST and go back in time to 2024. Picard has a epiphany from a childhood trauma where his dad was really mean to him but no wait, it was actually his mom. The Borg queen dies but before she does she assimilates Agnes. Oh no! Adam Soong (ancestor to Noonian) partners with new Agnes Borg queen and an army of drones with AR-15s to lay seige to Chateau Picard. Then they save a mission to Europa that Picard's ancestor is on which fixes the timeline. We find out that Wesley Crusher is a "traveler" who watches people through time to make sure they're okay. Q is happy that Picard learned his lesson and puts them back in the future. Then there's a huge galactic event that would kill everyone in the quadrant and they find out the Borg is controlled by Agnes and she attacked because she was really just looking for a friend so they could save the galaxy together. They all park their ships in front of the galaxy killer and through the power of friendship their shields block the event.
Oh and seven of nine kisses a girl. Fuck what an absolute hot load of shit.
It happens! I recommend drying and freezing some of your discard to use as backup. You can rehydrate it, feed it a few times and you keep the lineage alive!
I have a two year old starter that I've been feeding rye the whole time.
People know me though. They know my domain is mine, my email is mine. My server is the one doing the validation.
I, in the real world, could say that only identities validated from my domain are me. An AI can't spoof that.
There was a SmarterEveryDay video about an iterative formed manufacturing process where two robots basically pinch sheet metal to form complex 3d objects.
It's almost like additive manufacturing a la FDM 3d printing where you layer up the part. One of those processes/techniques that I had never even considered but is obvious once seen. Very mind (and metal) bendy.
Recommend a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCXu8Ju_fdY
Tell me one way it would be possible for an AI to impersonate me here.
Couple that with #bitcoin and numbers that no one else knows represent everything I have or am in the digital world.
Just.... numbers. Numbers that I calculated myself that no one else could ever possibly guess before entropy dries up in the universe and time itself ceases to exist. If that doesn't give you a tingle to think about I don't know what to tell you.
#nevent1q…h4pg
I'm so intrigued by the idea that #nostr solves #deepfakes and fake info from #ai. My digital identity is a key and a domain that I own and control which provides a NIP-05 verification. And that is more "me" than anything else I could do, say, or provide.
Fuck me that is so incredibly cool.
I've always loved punk rock
#nevent1q…jkrh
I think I'll just say "Hey... you"
I don't know what to call you now
I had to set up my own static IP. The guy didn't even know what a CIDR range was.
Amethyst does a pull refresh
Are you actually going to pick the nicest roast?
Are you going to warn yourself for being too based?
I feel horrible admitting this but I laughed at first. The teachers were all freaking out and I thought it was a hoax. I remember telling my friend Daniel next to me that the teachers were going to feel real dumb when it was a movie announcement or something like that.
Boy I was wrong...
User configurable minimum. Let them send ads if they're willing to pay what people require.
No, sorry this is horribly confusing. "Satoshis" has a specific meaning. "Bitcoin" has a specific meaning. Further, "bitcoin" is it's own plural. "Bitcoins" sounds really dumb.
Fedora. IIRC Fedora stopped including support for Intel integrated graphics (it's been over a year since I last tinkered with it so I may be misremembering.) So I had to find the right collection of packages to get it working. I'm a little apprehensive about messing with it again since it works well.
My HTPC is a NUC i7 11th gen. Plex works great out of the box and I had a hell of a time setting up vaapi in Jellyfin. I'll try Jellyfin again because I really would prefer to use it. Maybe third time's the charm.
I have my own server but just curious what hardware you're running and kind of connection?
I tried Jellyfin a couple different times and could never really get HW accelerated decoding working well. Plex runs well enough but Jellyfin pegs the CPU at 100%.
Pixel is the only model I know of that the bootloader can be relocked after writing the OS. That means other phones will be vulnerable if someone has physical access to your device.
Is that Blackrocks wallet 🤔
Oh good to know, thanks!
My node can handle it 😄 it's hosted on my beast docker server with 192GB of RAM and dual Xeons
VPNs can keep logs. They can also be compelled to monitor you legally. It works fine for most day to day things but if you need to be totally sure it's not always reliable.
It all depends on your threat model. If you just don't want your ISP knowing your habits a VPN should be fine. If you don't trust your government TOR may generally be fine. If you need to do something that is illegal in your country bouncing through multiple proxies in multiple jurisdictions is a common tactic. If you need to hide from a three letter like the NSA or CIA for an extended period of time.... you're fucked. They have the resources, manpower, expertise to eventually get you wherever you are. You'll mess up eventually and they'll get you.
Not things I run myself 😉
If an entity controls a portion of entry and exit nodes they can correlate connections in and out through timing attacks. It's how they nabbed Ross Ulbricht.
Was at the store scrolling nostr and a worker walked by and said "Checking those early sports scores?"
"Nope, scrolling through decentralized, censorship resistant social media."
You got the wrong fella, fella lol
OOF
I'm in a not dissimilar situation but different reasons. I made a mistake picking RAID5 in my array and when I added drives I got larger drives but can't use the additional space. I'm out of slots and using the majority of the space. To fix it I'm probably going to have to wait until I build my next NAS unless I want to send 90TB of data up to S3 and pay egress to get it back afterwards.
Yep same as with Bitcoin and the fiat hegemony. Nostr only needs to exist as an alternative and the centralized platforms will do the work of telling people why they need Nostr.
Same. I know it's like ecash and that's about it.
Nope! I'm super pumped to see it. It looks incredible
Used* I deleted it some months ago.
I've stopped using services that don't let me hide myself. Reddit was the last centralized service I use.
I'm waiting for the day someone says something when I wear my Nostr shirt. That person will be my new friend.
That is why I cut my burgers in half. You can take a tall burger and eat it from a vertical. This has the added effect that every topping hits your taste buds at the same time maximizing the flavor experience per bite.
Oh man that's rough. Allergic?
Where are you seeing discussion about it? I need to get in the fight
We'll fight it like we always have. I, my friend, won't run larger block software on my node.
Over time you'll take the profits and roll them back into stocks/real estate in some unfruitful attempt at diversification. Bitcoin WANTS to be 99% of your portfolio no matter what you try.
Went to Tenacious D: The Spicy Meatball tonight. We were blessed with saxoboom. What a spicy night
https://video.nostr.build/4fe6b7a2abbd842b7e1d6ec7ed0b7f0870b291d965abdd872fbe56ee14e4e43e.mp4
How is that even possible? Have you published your address/xpub/zpub anywhere?
It's so absolutely unlikely for someone to send Bitcoin to a wrong address that you could send 1 sat to a random address 10,000 times a second from now until the sun explodes in 4.5 billion years and you still wouldn't have deposited to an address that someone had the private keys to.
This is one of those perfect albums. Every single song is great.
There only needs to be consensus to do something. Else we keep our current state. If there's not consensus to DO the thing we DON'T do the thing. That's how consensus works.
But in my research it seems we DO have consensus; the large majority of bitcoiners don't want this. I've seen polls with upwards of 90% saying they'd refuse to run the code. There's a small extremely vocal minority of people who want this. Paul has said he'd put this on testnet or Bitcoin Inquisition but to my knowledge hasn't done it. He could do this on BCash or some other shitcoin and validate there but he doesn't want to.
https://cdn.nostr.build/i/42e4467c0a53454ccfa33d60ee84441d91bd327195537c276e862288a74c2eca.jpg
Hope you feel better soon 🫂
There are ALWAYS risks to changing consensus. And drivechains have obvious risks in changing incentives that we don't (and likely can't) know the full implications of.
Paul saying there is no risk IS a risk itself. Any dev who says there's no risk to change is either naive, or malicious. Both are dangerous. The question is if the risk is worth it. And it simply isn't.
Have been for several years in Gnome. I noticed less screen tearing in videos and games when I switched but otherwise pretty transparent.
The thing holding back onboarding is not fees. It's confidence. The thing holding some folks from self custody is not fees. It's (perceived IMO) complexity or risk associated with self custody.
Mix in these shitcoin sidechains and I almost guarantee people associate Bitcoin even more with affinity scams, rug pulls, etc. This is a solution in search of a problem. Or worse, it's the same shitcoin arguments wearing a trenchcoat and tophat of needing to scale Bitcoin when we already have real layer 2 solutions like lightning for scaling, privacy.
I haven't seen a single explanation for why I should want this. I HAVE seen corporate interests and shitcoiners pushing it which tells me a lot of what I need to know. There's a very small vocal minority of folks who are pushing this. Nearly everyone else doesn't want it. Bitcoin Core devs saying it's deeply flawed.
There was a slight chill in the air the other night and I told my fiance "Can't wait for all these motherfuckers to die" 😂
They're so bad in our back yard. Every time we take the dogs out I get bit 2 or 3 times.
Depends on how much you care about your data. At the RW that most consumers do, nah. If you're self hosting anything important it's probably a good idea.
A lightning node with any serious amount of coin? I absolutely would.
I have a cron that zips and encrypts the data folder, and sends it up to cloud storage several times a day and keeps 2 weeks of backups.
Ain't this the fucking truth
Fun fact, that's when I'm getting married 😄🤙🌲
We've been hearing IPv4 is going to run out of addresses in 5 years for 20 years.
Their fix was the complicated abomination that is IPv6. Weird that we still don't use IPv6 in 2023 isn't it?
I find it quite funny that fiatjaf posts on Twitter
I think he's pushing it now because of the halving. But I don't think miners need more incentives. Optimize or die is the creative destruction that makes Bitcoin better.
If this shitcoinery is all that keeps miners profitable then they should disappear. ☕
No recommendations but I've literally considered looking into buying land in El Salvador.
Ya know .. for a rainy day.
Nothing should be done to consensus that has "unknown unknowns".
If there are unknown unknowns then take 5 years, 10 years, whatever it takes and eliminate them.
#nevent1q…2wv3
Shitcoinery is afoot.
"People don't appreciate how vulnerable they already are to miners."
So let's make them MORE vulnerable. Jesus fuck what a dumb idea.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ2fSd53oao
It's only slightly out of pettiness. He obviously has incentives that put him at odds with the Bitcoin community. Rather than answering concerns straight he resorts to attacks and manipulative language.
His poor attitude betrays his motivations. Fuck that I'll dig my heels in.
#nevent1q…4xm2
If all I knew about Drivechains was the way Paul Sztorc is trying to bully it through I would reject it.
Rule #1: Don't be a dick.
ZBD screams scam to me. I don't know anything about it except the marketing I see about it.
Talking about this? The BIP300 and BIP301 have been in draft since 2017 and I don't see any recent convo on the mailing list.
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/28311
😔 Is there a MASF height? What version of core has the activation?
Wtf is a drivechain? This is the second time I've seen it in the last couple days.
Confirmed occurrence on a profile as well. Was sent to the Replies tab unexpectedly.
I've never consciously noticed doing it. Seeing the touchpoint in the video it's obvious I'm doing a fair bit of side to side while scrolling.
It started happening all at once and only in this app. I'll try to train myself to not do this but it doesn't feel like all that unnatural of a movement.
Okay seems to happen after catching a flick scroll. I likely am doing that catch with some slight sideways movement.
https://nostr.build/av/5aca628b4e9a41711e0b115aadc24a37fbcd9e9db7c4505da2fdbac9fa550b67.mp4
I'm trying to get a recording of it but like most bugs of course it doesn't present when you want it to.
Hey @npub1gcx…nj5z sometime around v0.75.0 my feed started flipping over to the conversation view a little too aggressively. It seems to be when I'm scrolling and have held my thumb down a little after the scroll. There's probably a slight sideways motion that's triggering a view transition.
I've heard Amethyst is having issues with zaps. But no big deal, thank you anyway!
To be a little more clear:
The subdomain should point to a server. The server should serve that NIP-05 at /.well-known/nostr.json. Happy to help live if you want.
Depends a little on your technical ability. If you can host things yourself you'll be totally fine. I have an nginx server serve my NIP-05. You could also forward your subdomain to a file with the JSON in it.
Is it Jeffrey? Er.. Roger Jeffrey?
Right before they arrest you for trespassing...
#nevent1q…89r6
Damn sounds rough. Hope you feel better soon
I used Graphene several years ago and it was a little wonky. I switched to Calyx for a couple years since they bundled MicroG out of the box. When I picked up a new Pixel decided to try Graphene again and it's great. I like sandboxed Google Play Services better than MicroG. It feels pretty no compromise to me.
Lightning is all about having liquidity and where it is at any given moment so that to me is the literal service as an interface. But I'd feel like a pedant if I "well ackshually" anyone who said Lightning Service Provider.
That is a beautiful tomahawk

It's a rite of passage for cooks
I find talking out the idea with someone gives me a little push of enthusiasm and accountability to get over that hump. Usually someone not even in the space (like my fiance, friends, family, etc.)
Go get it @npub1wtu…e7js 💜
Feel this. That hump is hard to get over for me too. Not just with Nostr.
"Eh someone has already done it."
"No one would use it anyway."
...
Hard to get through those mental barriers.
This is real: I'm having trouble sleeping tonight. Couldn't sleep in bed so I went downstairs and watched some TV. Finally got to sleep for a bit and then had a bad dream that got me up again ...
Gonna be a rough day lol
Do we know it's actually him?
Same thing I got you last year
I have a domain and I'm building. More to come.

Green candle and the return to up.
Yeah they're freaky little dudes
Well I asked and might've just answered my own question. I think the answer is to back this with my own DVMs so I can answer requests quickly 😄
@npub1l2v…ajft I have an idea for a Nostr based Pinterest using DVM for algorthmic recommendations but I'm concerned about the UX and looking for feedback from the man himself.
Idea is this: user pins an image and requests related images from other user pins for ideation or discovery. What kind of latency could I expect from a DVM request to fulfillment? I.e. would a user wait say, 5 seconds? Or is it more likely a "come back tomorrow" timeframe?
I'm just in the ideation phase of this idea and just not sure of the working model for DVMs.
That looks like a kissing bug and they bite
Lightning feels like that to me. "Lol no one will know I sent this"
I miss the mp3 player era.
Same I'm getting too old for this shit lol
I like @npub1r00…sqe8's analysis on What Bitcoin Did recently. He makes a bullish case for a 2017 like cycle with up to an 18x of the current ATH.
That feels silly to say but I see the possibility now. Either way it's gonna be wild!
Any guesses for the peak next cycle?
What's a drink that a bartender thinks "oh hell no!" when someone orders it?

Ahem cast iron. Because it's better for steaks.
This is fake right? Like there's no way.
I'd rather read raw JSON events from a relay than have what I see filtered by someone else.
That's why we're here.
If you play games with my feed I will not, and will never use your service @npub12vk…pugg @npub16c0…6nvr.
No algos. Don't block things for me. I am the master of what I see on nostr.
#nevent1q…pk5q
I have a Vaultek RS safe that is secure enough for my needs at the moment. No kids and it's really just a deterrent to snatch and grabs.
But it's big enough to hold a few rifles/shotguns and some pistols. Bolts to the floor/wall. Keypad and fingerprint entry.
Lol at the people freaking out about the dip...
*checks chart*
.. to prices from a month and a half ago.
Damn good bear but if I have more than 2 I'm blacking out that night
Haha one day she will be like my fiance and agree... and simultaneously want me to shut the fuck up about it lol
Same thing from me. I just crossed over 200 and I've never come close to that many on any other platform.
Truly feels like I've found my people here 💜
A good friend gave me a bottle of Jefferson's Ocean Rye Whisky and I'm really enjoying it. Great flavor profile, slightly salty, great caramel after flavor. Beautiful whisky 🥃
I hope so. Looking forward to some excitement again.
Similar set up here. Missing the 10G though. That might be my next expensive adventure.
Do you use NFS mount between them?

I'd never blame unlimited access to information, in any way. You could call me a "free information absolutist" and that wouldn't be far from the truth. I think our societal problems largely boil down to:
- Limited opportunity for a lot of people. For a lot of people their tomorrow's don't look as bright as their yesterday's. This is in large part due to our monetary problems. The government is siphoning money away from the people through taxes and inflation. So people are in an "I'll get mine however I can fuck everyone else" mindset.
- Engagement algorithms used by social media, and the media in general. Fear, anger, envy, all the negative, anti-social emotions drive higher engagement. And companies stoke those flames for a buck. Nostr is a case study of this. Largely this network, anecdotally to me anyway, feels much more peaceful, free, caring, focused. And I think it's because we're not being force fed shit news and content custom made to incite us.
Hopelessness and propaganda. That's all you need to get people stirred up like they are these days.
Oh no what have you done to my phone!! 😂
No over analysis here. I love the Internet and think it's the conduit for a better world. I'm pointing out where the blame belongs.
Still love the message.
Totally agree that is probably what he means. But just saying "Internet bad" misses the mark by a wide mark for someone who wrote a song that so correctly identifies the problems we have.
It's just more nuanced than that. But yea I get the point of his message wasn't that nuance.
We're having an old school Ryan Reynolds movie night with Green Lantern and Blade Trinity double feature.
I think so too but unfortunately that's not what he said
Yea he lost me a bit there. The Internet is a large reason we know about half the shit our government tries to get away with. The Internet is connection. How they use the internet is the problem. They captured the companies providing communication services and used them to feed people propaganda. Corporations are the problem.
I was thinking storm trooper but panda too 🔥
You bet man!
Wireguard can run in kernelspace which will be faster than Tailscale which runs userspace wireguard. Worth it for me because I have cloud instances connecting to home for things and need the speed. If you're just doing normal browsing you likely wouldn't notice.
But I otherwise have the same setup: pihole, unbound, VPN is the mobile on the go powerhouse set up.
Tailscale has some performance drawbacks. If you have the skills to host things yourself, wireguard will give you the best performance. I use this container and it's so good https://github.com/wg-easy/wg-easy
Woah now watch that trigger finger
I got in an argument with someone here a while back who I assume worked on Primal for this very thing. They were trying to say algorithms were the only right way to do discovery. I just don't want any kind of algorithm that orders things. Give me a raw, chrinological feed and no tom foolery please.
How does their service work? Is it non-custodial through an LSP?
I'd still do it but I wouldn't like it lol
Fighting that good fight. I still don't totally understand why folks are so against a vaccine.
I can't be bothered with it anymore. Shit made me sad to think about.
That's bugs for me. A huge hell no for bugs.
I had a friend who was a herpetologist and would always bring out his snakes when we'd visit. I think they're so cool!
Oh he's probably a sweet little nope rope. Just feed him before bed and there's nothing to worry about
There ain't a whole lot I wouldn't do for $100k.
Yeah I'm not sure I get it, sorry.
Hope your day gets better
That slappy, crunchy bass sound was so trippy 🤙
141 separated the witness data and 91 forced signaling for activation.
They tried. The New York Agreement was so obviously attempted corporate capture and the network did what it was supposed to do.
Woo I had forgotten about this album but every song was 🔥
BIP91 is Segwit and was contentious, as shown in your screenshot. Segwit2x was not contentious, as shown it was universally rejected.
I never seriously used it but I loved having the functionality. That was back in the day when we didn't know how we really wanted to use smartphones and they just threw everything and the kitchen sink in the device to differentiate.
The good ole days 😄
HTC One still to this day my all time favorite phone. Front facing speakers were awesome. The aluminum was cool to the touch. Had a nice weight without being huge. The IR blaster was incredible. Had an FM radio. The dopest phone ever made.

You'll also need a server on the host (I use nginx) to reverse proxy that subdomain to your relays port. TLS through Let's Encrypt is easiest to set up.
You need to set up an A record DNS entry to point to your host IP. You can set the subdomain in the entry. Or CNAME if your hosting provider gives you a FQDN for your host.
I watched a bunch of reaction videos for the song last night. Everyone thought it was powerful. Right, left, white, black, men, women. I didn't see a single person say they didn't vibe with it.
People know this is a class issue and not politics. The propaganda machine hates this and is going to try to find a wedge.
Depends which side I'm laying on relative to the power plug.
It works if you're cool with waiting 3 minutes to find someone on the DHT who has your file.
This man drunk broke in to a woman's house and married her 😂
Big fucking yikes. A 30% haircut??
Fuck yes man I love Royal Blood. I'm only mad that you stopped the video there instead of playing more.
This album is so fucking good.
What happened here? Did they fat finger the amount when generating the invoice?
Let me tell you about our lord and savior NixOS.
You build "generations" for system configs and can always roll back to your last good config. I just set it up in the last week and it's a total game changer.
This video will always get a zap from me

I know how the story ends though. We win in the end. #bitcoin
The minimum is $25. And that 4¢ is all the interest I've earned in 12 years. And I pay $1/month for the privilege of having a savings account.
Fucking banks are scams.
Hey not cool dude, I have a savings account.
... And it has $25.04 in it.
Bullshit. They will abide their concessions for a year, maybe two, and then start the same shit they've always done.

Lol wow wtf dude bets big
It's so cool that lightning is making things like this possible. It's something that someone would maybe, MAYBE run as a pet project out of pure curiosity or passion.
Lightning unlocks previously value that was just not even on the table before. 💜🧡 #bitcoin
Big time goals. I have dreams of setting up a 4U rack for AI things. Some day when I have $20k burning a hole in my pocket.
#nevent1q…pu3d
It kind of already is. It's neat to be sure. But there's no state, no reasoning, no understanding. I use it damn near every day to make all kinds of tasks easier. It certainly makes me more efficient and effective but maybe by 50% and not the "10x" that most people think of for transformative technology. Seeing how these things actually work tells me it's just not the "AI" that we're being hyped on and sold. It's the wrong tech for the real generalized AI that will utterly upend everything. It feels like an important "module" that general AI will rely on.
Having said that, we are so stupidly close I'm not sure we have to wait long. Ten years maybe more and we could see some truly mind bending things.
It was a fantastic movie. It's heavy though. We left the theater kind of exhausted. But I'd love to see it again.
Aren't gas fees a major way the Ether gets pulled back out of the network to maintain inflation? Sort of like taxes?
So literally they're proposing the same inflationary song and dance... All of it is so complicated and dumb. Just buy #bitcoin.
Will do! I'll try to not ruin how the story ends 😄
Finally going to see Oppenheimer today. We wanted to see it in IMAX+RPX. Tickets have been hard to get but we got some!
That's not unusual unfortunately. The sands they are a shifting though.
Some of us can work on decentralized tech and some of us can push Bitcoin development. It's not all or nothing.
I see a bear standing on its back legs 😄
I just won't even use the service if I find they do this.
Kids: make sure you check your Halloween vapes for razor blades before consuming.
We have massively inverted incentive structures with easy money in our economy. There's so much money sloshing around that speculation wins so much more often than true innovation or value.
I don't think the billionaires we have now would exist under a Bitcoin standard. That is, billionaires who have made their money through the attention economy and surveillance capitalism (Zuck), government contracts and subsidization (Musk), rampant consumerism of cheap shitty goods (Bezos), etc.
I think so too. I think it's because we innately want to look deeper than just the surface level, superficial. We want to understand, and be challenged, and learn, and grow.
Lots of women DO love beards. Basically: there's a market for everyone.
Oh is Bono a Bitcoiner now?
This is why I grew a beard 😂
I'm a left leaning bitcoin maxi.
Lately I've been coming around to the idea of capitalism not being all bad. That a lot of the issues we have with capitalism are because of bad money.
I'm working towards the choice to work. I want to retire in the next few years but that doesn't mean I'll stop working. I'll just do what I want to do. Donate time to charity. Do the work I want to do now but isn't financially feasible.
Yeah I'll slow down and probably enjoy life more. But I just don't want to HAVE to work.
What's it like to not have any life stress, regrets, or anxiety??
I put up dvdt.dev/robots.txt to block ChatGPT from scraping my site. I don't have a ton of faith that it's actually stopping anything though.
I've finally taken the dive on https://nixos.org/ and wow I love it. I've configured endpoints hundreds of times through the years and I can't believe I've slept on this for as long as I have.
And actually I've gotten this slightly wrong:
It's a little more correct to say that the _apparent_ distance traveled by the light (indicated by the red shift of the Doppler effect) will be longer than the actual distance traveled.
It's mind bendy and easy to get wrong.
This will be light from around 13 billion years ago.
Not actually 28 billion years. Because space is expanding the time it takes light to travel a distance is longer than would be indicated by the speed of light.
Powerful, soulful. This man is singing truth and I love it

Same! It's my first real #zapathon. My memes are locked and loaded
My life savings is in Bitcoin and I feel very good about that.
I don't understand what this is?
I get that feeling at any price when I have some money to throw into Bitcoin. I want the Bitcoin immediately and I don't care if the price goes up or down. For me it's "get rid of dollars as fast as possible and buy bitcoin as soon as possible."
That's exactly why I don't go to Bitcoin meetups. It's a weird catch-22. I want to talk to people IRL about Bitcoin... But I don't want anyone to know I have Bitcoin.
I won't ever return to Reddit. After 15 years they've finally showed me they don't need me there.
Sorry that's happening. Dealing with this right now too so I know it doesn't feel great.
What I keep telling myself is it's not me.
What did she take? There's no way that was just a self entitled outburst.
This gave me goosebumps

I had a front end dev tell me, a backend engineer, that my days in software were numbered. That platforms are the future and I better learn how to interact with APIs to get things done.
Woof who's gonna tell them?
I'm in the market for some good over ear headphones. Which model is you get?

That's a good chart. I like that chart.
I needed to hear this tonight. Thank you.

I guess yeah if the portal is serving the log in form that makes sense.
These things are so cool 🤙
Pretty sure that's mad honey too. The psychedelic stuff that makes you trip.
1 but my sense of concentricity wants them to align just a little more
Or if you do make sure you are connected to a trusted VPN. I run my own wireguard VPN so I'm always connected to home on the go.

I'm a backpacker and I LOVE packing. Thinking about ways to catch edge cases without adding too much weight. Getting things packed just so for weight distribution and compressibility.
My default is 21 for notes that deserve a little more than just a reaction. For the 🔥 notes it starts at 500 and doubles for more and more 🔥. The most I've zapped was 10k
I have been using Coracle.social

No I appreciate the short circuit, my friend. It's not my best quality but I'll fall into fights with people like that and it just doesn't benefit anyone.
Fair. I block bots but not usually people.
I'll stop fighting on your post though 🤙
Science disproves. You can't prove a negative. Man come on. This is simple shit and you sound fucking dumb.
I don't "believe". There is a current best theory and the second it's invalidated I'll focus on the next best theory.
You don't understand science. When you collect some basic knowledge come back and talk with the adults.
The big bang is just a theory and could be invalidated. I don't "believe" anything but simply follow the best theories we have at the time.
God could show up this afternoon and announce to the world that he created all of this last Thursday. And we would then dismiss the big bang theory and start building theories about what God is, and where he came from.
But that hasn't happened.
We can and absolutely do.
But we don't "believe" anything. Science is a process of approximating truth by repeatedly testing and invalidating theories and asymptotically we get closer and closer to "truth".
We can and do create theories about the early universe and make observations that are either consistent or inconsistent (and invalidate our theories.) That IS science.
No I'm sorry that is simply not true. Science is a process of generating theories that have hypotheses that we can test. If we make observations that are inconsistent with the hypotheses then we know the theory is invalid.
i.e. We know for a fact that general relativity and quantum field theory are mutually exclusive, and therefor "wrong". But until we come up with a theory that unifies them they are usefully "wrong" and so we keep them.
It is a little! But just because we can't "see" it doesn't mean we can't "know". Science let's us build theories that we can use to generate hypotheses and test even that early universe.
If you've ever heard of the "cosmic microwave background" that is that first light of the universe. It's around 2-3 degrees kelvin and we can measure minute variations in the temperature at super cluster distances that correspond to galaxy clusters. Those temperature variations were differences in the baryonic soup of the early universe and where we see more matter now. i.e. galaxies
And actually it's even weirder. The universe was opaque to light for the first 300k years or so. There was so much matter at such a high density that photons were reabsorbed nearly as soon as they were emitted.
The universe is a strange place!
Nice! I love mine. Really great mix of not abstracting away what's actually happening while generating a txn but also making it really easy.
They're proposing to remove the datacarrier config which is asinine.
There's an automation on that PR where you can comment "Concept NACK" and give your reason to vote on it.
If you disagreed with this and it got accepted you could just not update your node version. Or someone like me would go and fork the code and revert this change. We'd publish it so others could use it.
I really like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It's stupid for me to buy a new car but if I were looking now that would probably be my pick.
I also have a Tesla. It's a great car but I regret buying it.
If you run a Bitcoin node there's a PR to remove the 80 byte limit for OP_RETURN. This could make it easier for spammers to put data on the blockchain and make running a node more expensive. Go let them know what you think.

She's never seen it and it's been a decade for me at least. And yea! We're really enjoying it. Getting close to wrapping season 1
Got some take out, gourmet cookies, and watching The X-Files with my fiance.
A friend and I were talking about building something just like this as an aid to our D&D campaigns.
Synapse is great. I use that too for private comms. Might be my most used selfhosted service.
Never heard about Foundry VTT. That is super cool!
Do you host any public services? Or internal things only?
Outside Bitcoin core and my lightning node everything else is personal things for me and family/friends. My nostr relay is public too I guess.
If you do this I'd love to hear what the process is like. Be sure to post about it!
I feel this man. Tough week for me as well.
I've considered it too but don't think I can justify the cost.
Wow that looks like the inside of a geode.
Followed. Post a store/link when you get these ready for sale!
It feels like they do a rebrand/rebuild every few years and it always sucks.
That's the beauty of having the option of being your own bank: if you don't want to you don't have to. There's any number of custodial services that will do that for you. And you get to enjoy all of the counterparty risk associated with them.
I know next to nothing about Liquid, sorry.
I live in the states too. People are already in a tizzy about not being able to afford rising rents, grocery bills, and healthcare costs, student debts, etc.
Can you imagine the utter shitstorm it would cause if the US government announced a concerted effort to spend $50billion+ to attack BITCOIN? Lmao it would be epic. There'd be guillotines out in front of the capital within the day.
The incentives just don't make sense to do that though. If you have enough energy and hardware to meaningfully overtake the main chain for a brief time you'd make far more money just mining Bitcoin.
There's no government in the world that would spend billions and billions of dollars to do that. It would also be the biggest advertisement for Bitcoin in it's history. "Governments are so scared of Bitcoin that they'd rather spend tens of billions of dollars to attack it than feed their citizens." Everyone Bitcoiners and non-Bitcoiners would revolt at that kind of waste.
To you final question the answer is "just wait a while" because 6 confirmations is when that feasibility becomes so highly unlikely that it's not worth worrying over.
How would a secret chain even get 1000 blocks ahead? There's zero probability of this happening over that long of a period of time while there's almost 400 exahash behind the main Bitcoin chain. The compute and energy just doesn't exist in the world to do that.
I like DigitalOcean. Although my compute happens on my own hardware and I only use cloud as the public front door. I can swap out my cloud provider in a couple hours if needed.
I downloaded it but haven't actually used it. I have a private Matrix server all my friends use.
I'll DM you my Simplex link though 🤙
The older I get the more appealing this is.

Not enough hours in a day or days in a year, my friend.
I've wanted a FOSS wearable for years man. You can export Garmin data and process it yourself but it's a PITA and not worth the effort IMO
I don't have wearable expertise but I'd gladly do what I do to help make this happen.
Free weights and running cardio. I mostly only wear it for cardio sessions.
That's so sad 😔 I hope Sheldon is safe and happy wherever he is.
I have a Garmin VivoActive 4 that I like. I only wear it working out these days though

I was totally joking on this but in my testing on how Slack handles this edge case there was a brief moment before it excluded the trailing period from the link.
It seems they do some kind of prefetch request to see if the link should include the period.
Actually that's if it's only a period as the last path part.
Apparently browsers treat a period as a redirect. It's weird but valid.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7555553/can-period-be-part-of-the-path-part-of-an-url#7555609
I have an even worse suggestion. Prefetch the URL with the period and if that 404s fetch the URL without the period.
A quick search shows that the internet is full of people who disagree on the best way of ending a sentence with a URL.
Here's a regex to exclude the ending period though.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/55768921/url-regex-that-skips-ending-periods
Oh lol Amethyst included the period at the end

I think it shows pretty well how little credibility the US government as a whole has left. It's fucked at every level, everyone knows it, and they can't even dangle aliens in front of us to drum up distractions.
They are so fucked. So absolutely fucked. Politically, economically, governmentally fucked.
Maybe not a suburban but if I was single the van life thing doesn't sound like the worst thing ever.
By the time they know hyperinflation is imminent so does everyone else. The number of people who'd sell their Bitcoin to someone for a hyperinflating currency is so tiny that it wouldn't be enough to save the currency.
Not many countries want to willingly short their currency.
The friends that have gotten into it have only cared about making money. Didn't care at all about the fundamentals. Mentioned it a couple months after they told me they were buying in and they said "oh yeah I sold that a few weeks later. I made $300! Can you believe it?"
That's so cool. I wish I had a friend to share this with. None of them care lol
I don't know how I could be more bullish.
I'm glad it doesn't weigh on you. It weighs in me.

Not at all what I said. I know I won't win this argument and I won't try because like I said... You'll win with stupidity all day and twice on Sunday. As long as you know the intelligent people in the room think this moon landing hoax stuff is idiotic that's good enough.
I've got a 8GB but I honestly don't remember how much I paid for it. I would've sworn it was less than that. So maybe $75 is reasonable.
Maybe I'm unoriginal but I've struggled to find a satisfying use for it. But I also have WAY too many computers. Home server, NAS, workstations, NUC for HTPC. The best I've been able to come up with it not better suited for one of those is an Octopi server for my 3d printer.
I'm a huge fan of ESP32 though. Those little things are cheap as hell and so small you can put them anywhere.
$75?!? Damn I don't know if I can justify that
"Overwhelming" lol There's that pesky club.

Do you even have a sense of scale of how different a mission to Mars is than going to the moon?
"Can't seem to figure it out" We're going back next year.... There's no reason we "couldn't" go back except there wasn't a financial incentive or public will to.
The fact that we only went to the moon to win a publicity war with the USSR should be the only controversial thing about it. God conspiracy nuts drive me crazy. They'll use their own stupidity as a club and beat you to death with it.
Giggity, congrats @npub18am…p424
What agreement do you mean?
I'll be honest the perpetual cynicism about literally everything is pretty exhausting to me.
But let's work that out, so the US military:
- Had advanced knowledge that Japan was planning to attack the US unprovoked
- Had advanced knowledge that the attack would be on Pearl Harbor
- Had advanced knowledge that it was going to happen on Dec 7
- Planted someone to specifically overlook the report
- Somehow hid this from a joint investigation through Congress and the Supreme Court
- Somehow kept it secret for nearly a hundred years that some cabal of people in the US government allowed 2,403 Americans to be killed so they could enter a world war we had no other reason to enter.
So a math problem for you then: what's more likely? Countless people from the military, congress, the judiciary who don't work well together in the best of cases all secretly plotting to allow an unprecedented attack on the US in order to enter a war Americans didn't want to enter? Or one man being overworked, under trained, and exhausted from a long shift making a mistake?
I'm going with the exhausted dude who wanted to go home and couldn't be bothered.
I guess you're a cynic about Pearl Harbor being some kind of conspiracy? Do you have a reason to think that?
It's so impossibly unlikely that someone could fat finger an address that is even valid. Much, much less that it was an address that belonged to a set of keys someone had private keys for.
We're talking many multiples of time until the heat death of the universe.
We were also not at war with Japan. We had no reason to suspect they would attack us.
The attack from Japan without prior declaration of war was considered a war crime.
> In August 1942, the Naval Board of Inquiry found that Tyler had been assigned to the Intercept Center with little or no training, no supervision and no staff with which to work. They subsequently cleared Tyler of all wrongdoing, taking no disciplinary actions against him.

... that's just development man. We build all kinds of automated tests, use debugging tools, architect in ways to help eliminate human created errors ... And sometimes it's still just a process of chasing down stupid error after stupid error.

Super conductors have needed to be very cold, cryogenic temperatures, for the effect to happen. Which takes energy of course to get to.
Room temperature super conductors will change just about everything for us. It makes ultra efficient energy grids/electronics possible. Extremely strong magnets that could be used for propulsion or to help make fusion viable. It would revolutionize our world.
Unfortunately the journal has retracted the paper because of alleged data fabrication by the paper authors. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-00599-9

Caveat, I have no first hand knowledge and am extrapolating from what I've seen: There's some drama with online sex workers over on Bluesky. They're coming to Nostr. Memes are being made about boobs being what makes Nostr popular because their fans will follow them here.
Have had this same convo. Friend knows what Bitcoin has done for me. Still not in, still says they can't imagine retiring one day.
I just can't believe he'd willingly light $44 billion on fire and show the world how inept he is while doing it.

Not to be a poo pooer negative nancy but electronic voting is a HORRIBLE idea.
Even if technically possible voting is about trust and the public at large can't even open a PDF. They are not going to put faith (rightfully IMO) in an electronic, Internet based voting system. There's just too many avenues for abuse. ESPECIALLY during a time where trust in elections is at an all time low.
Not discouraging you at all. Keep throwing those ideas out there! Even if you're not a dev it's still great to contribute. I am a dev and we try to objectively work through how things will work.
1. I think you make a good suggestion here. Maybe the poll creator could configure this on the poll to limit their exposure. Like a "winning threshold."
2. I don't think that would work. It would have to be written into the lightning layer. In software, layers below have no concept of anything in the layers built on top. That's by design but the reasons aren't super important to this discussion. NWC (Nostr+walletconnect) could maybe allow this but that makes the poll have a hard dependency on NWC which some (most?) don't use.
I just got over the hurdle of asking it nicely and saying please and thank you lol
I also keep a non-trivial but also not an amount that I'd be pissed if I lost on the root seed and a watch only wallet so I can tell immediately if they're compromised
That's obviously not a stand in for a good 25th word passphrase. But it lets me know if someone has gone snoopin
They're easier to hide though and that's why I like them. I put several layers of nail polish on the cap so I can see if it's broken and take a picture of it for validation.
Made that mistake the first time too. I had to put it away and come back to it.
I use these and they're great but goddamn I never want to set up another one. I think I spent an hour putting together two of them.

They have this on some fitted sheets. Ours have a "top/bottom" tag.
Or hear me out: they knew exactly what they were doing 😄
This could open the poll maker to unbounded fees. Imagine 1 million people vote 1 sat each and LN fees are 1 sat each. The poll maker is paying 1 million sats and they aren't aware of poll popularity before creating it.
Also how do you charge the poll maker post facto?
Ohhhh you're syncing. I thought you meant 800000.
Auto executing code snippets? No.
Snippets for code sharing? Yes.
Two thoughts:
1. UK is not a large market for Apple. So they can say this in a "we're privacy focused" without losing much revenue while bolstering the much larger American revenue.
2. I doubt they'd actually remove these features.
Timezone database is one. That dude has been maintaining it thanklessly since like 93.

They can! That's the beauty of Bitcoin.
Actually it was pretty much fine until I was interviewing for jobs and had issues delivering to Outlook. Lost an opportunity because I couldn't get mail through to them. It turns out MS uses a filter from a "company" that likes to extort people for money. I had a clean VPS IP and they blocklisted me and wanted me to pay a fee to get me off. Told them to go fuck themselves.
These days I just use Protonmail. Any important comms go through my self hosted private Matrix server.

Not a big fan of his position on guns either. Can we get someone who's sane on vaccines, doesn't want to ban guns, and doesn't want to destroy democracy? That doesnt feel like that much to ask.

Yes! We think about things like this a lot. Unfortunately there's no way to really do this. From an information stand point if someone can see a file, even for a brief period of time, they could copy the info out before they're blocked from reading it again.
Once information has been made accessible to someone you have to assume it's been copied and distributed.

I've been a software engineering manager for almost a couple years. I miss being an IC sometimes and have often considered going back. I've worked with large scale data systems (1 billion+ requests a day). Sometimes it's a lot of fun and sometimes it's a lot of stress.
Hi, so far I’ve found and followed, like, four women on Nostr. WHERE 👏🏽 ARE 👏🏽 MY GAL PALS? 👏🏽 https://cdn.nostr.build/i/d79fefeea050a20d902abd064c369141a00bd741db1fff173e406e3d67d923da.gif
“Sometimes these stories are spread by well-meaning people who are truly concerned. Other times, they are being put forward by organizations and individuals with other agendas. Either way, the best way to prevent human trafficking is with education. Instead of sharing that viral post, take a minute to learn how human trafficking really works.” Take a moment to learn, friend 🩷 There is into out there from people actual doing the work! https://polarisproject.org/human-trafficking-rumors/

I won't buy a new camera lens.
I won't buy a new camera lens
I won't buy... a new... camera... lens.
I don't think it's working.
I've seen it but don't remember much about it tbh. Why?
Little bit over a week and a half until block 800000. I really like round numbers but only 40ish weeks after that until the halving!
Are you ready for #bitcoin to rip faces again?
Hell yea that's beautiful
Yep I use sparrow with electrs. Blue wallet for mobile transactions too but I don't actually do that in practice.
Coldcard really is the best in my experience. I've used Trezor, Ledger, and an airgapped computer with Tails. Coldcard is really at the sweet spot for me of usability and not being so abstracted that I lose control.
Depends on what relays you allow in your global feed. I use paid relays only in global and there's almost no porn.
I got one of the 40oz water bottles and fill that thing up 2 or 3 times most days. I freaking love water.
Children need healthy and supportive parents period. No matter the gender identity or sexual orientation of the parent(s). It’s not selfish to be authentically yourself.
We hope to see cooked steaks in your feed in the near future
Groundbreaking. Another man blaming women for men being giant babies. Tysm for your input.
Oh fuck yea I love my birks and I used to think they looked stupid. They took some wearing in but so comfortable now.
Ah my bad then, good luck!
I'd set one up for you but 10k is a little low for the effort. I'll do it for 500k one time and show you how to update it yourself.
I am maybe towards the end of that path but I'd never turn down advice.
I've been through a couple bears, tried my hand at day trading. Was successful but ultimately couldn't stomach the risk. Now I just DCA and double up on dips. Anything around 3-5x the ATH in the next halving cycle and I'm retiring.
Ah and then you quit your job. Just had trouble parsing that.
Glad you got to exit the workforce that's great. I'm hoping I'll be there in the next run up.
You said you quit your job to buy Bitcoin? Just don't understand what you mean and curious.
Do you trade for a living now?
There's no such thing as a 100% energy transfer. Heating water will lose some heat to the environment. Steam will dissipate before converting to useful mechanical energy. Friction in your generator will sap energy from the system. The generator will lose some electric energy to heat which dissipates in the environment. And on and on and on.
But those are concrete reasons. Generally the second law of thermodynamics says that entropy in a closed system always trends towards a maximum. i.e. there's no free lunch.
I thought I recognized it!
Have any technical expertise? If you can run some docker containers you should manage fine.
Start with these:
- Lightning network daemon - this is your node: https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/
- Management software: https://www.thunderhub.io/
- Automation software: https://github.com/cryptosharks131/lndg
Don't put any amounts on it that would be life changing for you until your understand and have tested your disaster recovery process VERY well. You should be able to reliably recover your node from nothing and understand how and why before you put serious coin on it.
If you want to get serious about it it's largely pretty safe at this point from a software standpoint but systems break, fires take out homes, hard drives crash, availability zones could go away if you cloud host... Just a world to the wise from someone who maintains large production systems.
What about us private nodes? 😉
That's beautiful! Is that the south park amphitheater?
Agree in most cases. It's nice though if I'm engaging in a thread so I don't have to keep checking back. Just kind of a quality of life improvement.
Highly recommend pihole for the ads. The Internet is a totally different place without all the attention seeking ads everywhere. I haven't seen an AdSense ad on YouTube in years. Most of the time I don't even notice where they'd be and only very occasionally I'll see an "Advertisement" label with nothing around it.
I've been away from anything Meta for years now. I don't understand why anyone would willingly use their services. Even if you don't care about privacy just knowing some of the heinous shit they've used their platforms for is a strong reason to stay away.
I've been living without notifications in Amethyst because I use CalyxOS with MicroG instead of Google Play Services. I just assumed notifications didn't play nicely with MicroG for some reason. (If you've tried a degoogled phone this is not unusual for apps to break in strange ways.)
Turns out it's because I was using the Fdroid version instead of the Google Play Store version of Amethyst. After switching to GPS version of the app notifications are working! #TheMoreYouKnow
Just got around to starting to scope this and actually figured out a fix. In case anyone else asks notifications do work with MicroG on the Google Play Store version of Amethyst. I've been using the Fdroid version. This was obvious in hindsight but hey we're there now.
Ah I see it now. Nice collection dude.
Nice looking glock. That an MP5 I spy on the table 👀
That looks like yard grass lol
What's your opinion on them resuming hikes in July? On the one hand, they sounded quite hawkish at the FOMC meeting. It almost sounded like JP said "I will burn you all if the market continues to taunt me." On the other side, the cracks everywhere seem to be turning into dam breaks.
I frankly don't know. Less joblessness is spooking investors making it feel like we're in a bizarro world.
I'm impressed and inspired at the volume of work some of these guys can put out. I have to think a lot of them have day jobs too but still putting out big features every other day. Some of these crazy lads are churning out whole applications in that time.
It's incredible to watch and they're getting a large percent of my zaps.
I wish that were even remotely possible. Unfortunately I've been jaded and don't have a lot of hope anymore.
God that's horrible. I can't understand why we're doing this to people. It's unconscionable.
Strangely this week I have felt this more than most
I can't even imagine high school with social media. I graduated just before that started really being a thing. Something like YikYak.... Woof we would've been nightmares with something like that
God YikYak was the worst cesspool I have ever seen. I lived near a college campus and the stuff I saw on there..
Where are the Nostr girlies? I need gal pals here. Nothing against all of the men, but you’re all…men. Where the ladies at? #introductions https://nostr.build/i/ed3586937787a863b65b3d8d9cc628ed5916fb8ca89128867d50d8f87776cec9.gif
Hey #NostrNerds in case you were wondering what the outside world looks like rn:
- Threads is better than Twitter
- Threads is also boring
- Fundamentalist nut jobs are just as cringey on a new app
- I still don’t totally understand this app and am therefore scared of everyone here
- People* still want Vine to come back
- Taylor Swift just released another (Taylor’s Version) album, so hug your girlfriend and buy her an iced latte
* - I am people
No doubt 💜 much appreciated
Trust me I wish I could. Life is just worrisome sometimes, friend.
I do both and I am constantly filled with worry.
Just not about my Bitcoin.
That's how I'm reading it.

This is at the theme park in my town and def won't be going back after seeing this.
Word. Saw a flurry of notes from several people that sounded similar. Thought I might be out the loop of something.
That man doesn't do anything that doesn't ruin lives. He's going to offer something that initially looks tempting.
He's going to try to buy Bitcoin and will need liquidity to fill their bags. Don't give your Bitcoin to them.
Buckle up it's swamp donkey seasoning
Late to the party but we're finally starting Schitt's Creek and it's so fucking funny
I'm on Android. I tried finding the extension for Chromium and Firefox mobile but couldn't find it. Setting up nsecbunker on my server is on my list of things to do but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Man hope someday you get some Cheerios without piss in them. Adios
And I'll mess up on like the 4th character and then hit backspace like 15 times. Every time.
#nevent1q…m6tr
Is there an app like nos2x or nsecbunker for mobile? I want to play around with some micro apps but don't really feel comfortable putting my nsec into them.
Anyone used Keet.io? I've looked through their Hyper libraries for DHT, drives, etc and makes sense. The fact that the Keet app isn't open source gives me some pause about the claims they make for it being privacy respecting.
I'm cautiously very intrigued. I've hosted a Matrix server for years and if I can have private p2p comms without hosting a server that sounds pretty great.
Kind of seems like you don't like when someone disagrees with you. All I'm saying is the whole reason I'm here is to avoid censorship and algorithms that tell me what to look at. If Primal is a tool that picks users to put into a feed then I don't have any use for it. I want to be the arbiter of what I see on Nostr.
Actually sorry scratch that. The translations folder I linked was for site localizations.
Looks like they use a service called Transifex. Here's docs on providing translations: https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org/blob/master/docs/assisting-with-translations.md
Looks like there's a `_translations/` directory: https://github.com/bitcoinorg/Bitcoin.org/tree/master/_translations
Is that what you're looking for?
"Man with intense anxiety of being stuck in a crowd asks if he can please leave."
I thought 46MM sounded low and I should've fact checked that claim before parroting it. Thanks for pointing that out.
The contents are encrypted. The metadata of who you are talking with is public though which I'm not crazy about.
What did that CIA person say that time, "We've killed people for metadata."

LMAO Wow. That's pretty hilarious I can't lie.

I intentionally only allow paid relays in my global feed.
I don't want anyone to "curate" things for me. I only put the (paid) relays I want in global and that works great.
Down south we can buy "hemp" and have it shipped by post to our front door now. It feels like a total life hack and it's awesome.
4. Never recombine those UTXOs
This right here. Someone pointed out to me recently that there are only 46 million houses in America. Look at the housing market. It's bananas and it's because people are clamering for something that's scarce.
Now realize there's half as many Bitcoin as houses in America AND IT'S A GLOBAL ASSET that is perfectly scarce. We can build more houses.
If you're looking at Bitcoin as a short term asset to get rich quick you're doing it wrong. Bitcoin is how my kids kids kids will never have to worry about working at a 9-5 grind of a job. They'll have the resources to work on moon shot projects that could change the world. Or make art that people love. Or fucking sail the world on a boat and just enjoy living a life I wish I could have had. I'm building generational wealth that changes the course of my family's future.

It's also protected free speech. Nostr is just a standard for how to communicate information in a commonly understood message format. EFF and ACLU would be all over it if they tried to ban Nostr.
Welcome to the decentralized revolution! Follow a ton of people to get some good variety in your feed.
I think we should stop coddling people. If people can't keep 12 words safe... Maybe they should use a custodial service with the risks that come with them.
True freedom takes (very little IMO) effort.
I'm good with both actually. Everybody oughta leave everybody else alone

There are cloud hosts you can get an instance without any KYC and you can pay in BTC. You may be in an IP range that gets blocked more frequently though...
Other than that and Tor let me know if you come up with anything. I am relatively comfortable with my droplet being my public interface to the network but if there's a better solution I'd be interested.
I'm successfully proxying my LND node through a DigitalOcean droplet to hide my home IP/location.
Ohhh nooo... Anyway my DCA came through today.
Your device has to send and receive to each relay. Every relay increases the processing your device is doing as well as data use if you're on mobile. I'm at 20 relays and want to cut it down.
Part of the reason I haven't looked into an espresso machine was counter space. That has a really small footprint. I might look into getting one, thanks!
Espresso is a rabbit hole I haven't dove down yet. I love a good cup of espresso in a cafe though!
You like your Nespresso? Any recommendations for model/features to look for?
I was a sugar and creamer guy all my life until several years ago when I cut them out for a diet. Found out I freaking love black coffee. These days I'm a coffee hipster with the burr grinder, pour over, and small batch craft roast beans. It's a whole morning ritual now and I love it.
I'm going to have to rebuild my deck in the next year or two. Any hot tips?

Maybe I'm used to our presidents getting shot at by crazy fucks but that would never be allowed in USA.

Private companies aren't required to take dollars. They just have to tell you before they provide service. I.e. you can't provide a service and then when they try to settle up you say, "Sorry I only take payment in potatoes." You're totally allowed to say, "Sure, I'd be happy to serve you a steak dinner. However, I only accept payment in dryer lint." Because you can always just say, "Damn, I spent all my dryer lint at FedEx Kinkos. Thanks anyway!"
Legal tender laws mean local/state/federal governments can't refuse to take your dollars for fees/taxes.

It's my every day carry! Fantastic little gun that I can't recommend enough. The swappable grip modules are incredible. Want a safety? Just add one. Want a longer barrel? Swap out an XL grip and upper and you have a bigger gun.
Yea I don't like how angled the grips are on Glocks. When I present a Glock I am always aimed high and have to adjust down. Sigs have a more vertical grip angle and for me presentation just feels more natural.
I'm a big fan of the P365 if you're looking for something to CCW. It holds 10+1 and it just disappears on my body. Super comfortable and not anywhere near as snappy as other subs I've shot.
It's just a huge gun. I get some printing at the mag well. I've bought 4 different holsters to try to conceal it and it's just gonna print.
So I only wear it when it's cold and I can put some extra layers over it.
You should get one. I've got a 226 Legion and it's my favorite gun. Only problem is it's hard as shit to conceal so I almost never get to carry it.
Damn you summed me up good. I'm the tech guy and I'll solve all your problems.... Except inspiring you to look into Bitcoin lmao
Oh look, the disease and the cure...

I recently dropped my mower deck to the second or third lowest setting. Now instead of mowing twice a week I can make it a week to a week and a half based on how much it rains.
Neat, I'll look around when you put it up!
I haven't seen your work but buying shirts is generally how I support people. Got a site with your work?
I do this. If it requires me to create an account I don't use it. Even online shopping if I can't checkout as a guest I go somewhere else.
I loved the shows too. I've heard that Brad Wright is in talks with Amazon for a new series. Fingers crossed for that
Fuck. Yes. Stargate is my shit
The conspiracy theorist in me would say governmental capture is probably one of the weaknesses.
I also question how effectively could they really secure all their systems. Some people's entire life's are in their ecosystem... What happens when they introduce a vulnerability that leaks millions of peoples data?
I guess the final I would say is they've basically won capitalism... How much longer can they really sustain the kind of growth they've seen?
Sorry I don't quite follow your question, friend. Are you asking what three weaknesses Apple has?
I am a FOSS-only kind of guy and have been for a long time so I don't keep up with Apple much these days. I'm pretty distrusting of any company that can grow that large though.
It's gotta be in the top 3 things every single iPhone user interacts with.
Now you've got me genuinely curious what their budget is for iMessage and how many people must work on it.

What's your area of expertise?
I've asked every vendor if they take Bitcoin 😂
I'm getting married on 4/20/24. We just had a call with a DJ and he ends the call with, "Hey lemme ask you one more question. How'd y'all pick your date?"

Nice 😂 I thought that's probably what you meant
Speak to people. Make observations in line. Accept any and every invitation. Go to meetups for things you're interested in. Take a class. Find a camping group. Donate time to charity (and talk to people).
Most of the time it only takes one acquaintance to introduce you to a group and you're in.
I mention it every once in a while these days when I feel like talking about it but I don't try to convince people anymore. They know I'm a bitcoiner and nostrian and they'll come around some day.
I've been trying to get my non-bitcoiner friend on here for months. Tbf tho I've been trying to orange pill him for years now too. He just doesn't listen to me.
Putting it here to look back on in 10 years.
#nevent1q…wg06
Me too! This is my 3rd cycle and I've never been more bullish.
It's inevitable my man. The books already been written.
2024 - We consolidate shitcoin market caps to Bitcoin. Everyone learns there's no second best. Blackrock, Fidelity, et al kick off an epic gold rush of old money that's been waiting for institutions to validate the risk for them. My estimated market cap at peak ~$3-4 trillion and spot price between $150k to $200k.
2028 - Bitcoin investment is something everyone's doing. Bitcoin capable POS systems are starting to proliferate and stores taking Bitcoin are becoming more common. We flip the gold market cap at $15 trillion putting BTC spot price between $600k-$750k. Cycle bear markets don't result in huge draw downs anymore. The bear bottom is at most 40% down from peak.
2032 - The store of value proposition of Bitcoin is confirmed for basically everyone now. Countries are stockpiling Bitcoin. The US has held off on entering but the BRICS Bitcoin entry this cycle has forced their hand. They're all buying as much as they can but people have learned that Bitcoin is the future. Pricing Bitcoin in dollars isn't very useful since the Americans have had to resort to negative interest rates and yield curve control for several years to afford their debt burden. Dollars are still taken but payment processors convert it almost immediately to Bitcoin to avoid inflation erosion.
Will do. Have a bounty board somewhere?
@npub1gcx…nj5z I use CalyxOS and MicroG instead of Google Play Services. I don't get push notifications but I don't know if anyone does.
I wouldn't even consider this an inconvenience but would be nice to have. Is it possible for Amethyst to support push with MicroG?
Would love to be able to dismiss that alert. Also what happens when there are multiple? Do they stack?

I ran my own Mastodon instance because of how little I trusted the instance admins. Almost as soon as I found Nostr I dropped Mastodon.
Just showed this to my fiance and she said "oh you said that was going to happen."
Yup. Hold on to your Bitcoin folks we're in for a bumpy ride.

I don't think I could restart life. I'd be missing all the people I've come to love in my life. Maybe I could find them but maybe not. So blue pill, I'll take the $10 million.
Fucking A man. Let people live their lives.
You mean NIP-05? The bots I see are all domain verified. It just doesn't impose the kind of cost that stops them. By requiring an on chain address with funds it means that the spammers at least have to lock up some amount of Bitcoin. It doesn't introduce a scaling cost per identity so maybe not that helpful. But perhaps the flow is instead having an address created by the Nostr identity being "verified" or "vetted" that must hold some arbitrary amount of Bitcoin.
Damn those bots almost immediately just proved my point lmao
How many arguments are won by being the loudest, most irrational voice in the room? It's gotta be more than not.
I worry about how simple it is to create identities on Nostr. With zero energy requirement it means being that loudest voice is cheap. Paid relays help but maybe we could allow users to post a "proof" kind event that links an on chain transaction like signing a message with the private key for an address that owns some small threshold of Bitcoin.
In time, people will see how powerful this is. It may take time but digital decentralized permanence is one of the strongest innovations in the history of humanity. People being able to converse at the speed of light and no one can stop it.
#nevent1q…4gwt
Damn is that Keifer back?
Those links don't load for me but think I get the gist. That's exactly why I won't put one of those damn assistant devices in my house.
I have zwave things going to home assistant but there's no phone home, no RAT back into my network. Fuck these company devices people just bring in their homes are so creepy.
I wonder how some people were even able to tie their shoes. This is a lot for some folks to handle.
I am both shocked and simultaneously couldn't imagine Microsoft not doing evil shit like this.
I don't know how people can just overlook that...
Yea maybe I'm just a shit Noah
LOL I'd hang with TPain on a boat any day
Anyone ever feel like Noah trying to get their friends on the #bitcoin boat?
The number of people on Nostr is absolutely tiny right now. As user numbers grow the available funds for zapping will grow.
Just because Nostr isn't supplanting Patreon or whatever else right this second doesn't mean it never will.
My zap comes with a demand, recipient must take a shot
Shit I've been looking forward to a BTC ETF for years and I never even considered what would happen during a hard fork.
Thanks for pointing that out.
I'm someone that gets bored at 90 days and have to switch it up to keep it interesting. Running for 90, then 90 doing weight training, then maybe do body weight work and limber work.
Man stick with it for 30 days. Get through that and you'll have a habit and that'll carry you through the next 60 days.
And WRITE SHIT DOWN. When you start exercise you'll start improving so damn fast and logging some metrics will let you see it over time. Which is super fuel for encouragement.
Durability is also maybe an issue. Relays might not want to store random encrypted data forever.
Interesting. I'm thinking that through and you'd probably want to be able to selectively choose which records are sent yea?
Damn you're good. They laughed him out of the dog house

You handled that like a champ, bravo.
Next question: If I shave my golden retriever like a lion, will the other dogs respect him more?
Is cereal soup? And if so are tacos sandwiches?
Another was perhaps using some user event/search data to predict Flu/cold outbreaks and broadcast out a warning on Nostr.
If anyone has problems relating to healthcare service I'd love to hear them.
I'm doing a hackathon at work and want to incorporate Nostr and/or Lightning in my project. We're a data engineering team at a health company.
I had an idea for a doctor/patient secure communication platform but that seems a little too easy outside of the immense regulatory problems with putting encrypted patient data on a random Nostr relay.
Second idea was an inventory system where hospitals could claim and purchase items from each other as needed. I think the problem with this one isn't technical but rather shipping burden.
This is a fantastic idea.

You posted a note to a relay and we pull it off and read it. That easy. Then we respond to it and say "hey, welcome to Nostr!"
Sup @npub15e7…qqyx how's it going?
Welcome! Recommend following a ton of people starting out to fill up your feed with content
Come on give me that cheap Bitcoin on DCA day 📉📉📉
ESP32's are so versatile. I love those little things.
Eh I guess that has a "trunk"
relay.orangepill.dev is really good
As someone who lives in the southeast USA: big fan.
No, I mean you're going to need a big ass fan if you don't have AC.
Whenever someone speaks "Elon Musk" and "Twitter" in the same sentence now I always say "Hey have you heard of Nostr?"
It's a free system. They can do what they want.
The incentives are such that they don't. Why would you build a $100 million dollar mining facility and then burn it to the ground? You wouldn't. Why would you build a $100 million dollar mining facility and use it to mine something no one wants. You wouldn't.
Yep confirmed with a bot from global
That makes sense, cool thanks!
Yea I already followed them
Doesn't work for me. Checked with @npub1nym…c7fq
Lol get fucked SEC
#nevent1q…v4sm
Oh my god I hate pampas grass. We pruned a years overgrown cluster the previous owners planted.
We seriously considered just digging that shit out of the ground.
Oh totally agree, they're going to be a "thing" forever. It's too easy to start one and too tempting a scam.
But like penny stocks they'll get relegated to nothingness.
I don't know many of them but here's TRXUSD. Not sure how to share a link since I'm on mobile

Trading view? It's happening now
Papa Bitcoin barely budging too. Watching the casino unravel is going to be glorious.
Not our friends
#nevent1q…t46w
Never used their services.
I do like the content they put out even if it is a little heavy handed. I like the swan podcast better than their YouTube content.
I've wondered this exact thought. But I just assumed anything FB, Twitter, Reddit was going straight to them. A three letter scraping Nostr relays just seems obvious at this point.
MacGyver and then later Stargate. Big Richard Dean Anderson fan.
What like y'all don't see some fresh roadkill and see a snack
Sweet didn't realize you were using a CLI
Since events are JSON objects the text will be escaped.
I use DigitalOcean. The only thing I have hosted is a small droplet that's my public ingress proxy that VPNs to my home network where data/services live.
I can move that in 10 minutes if it's ever necessary.
I've had people ask me why I use a wireguard VPN when Cloudflare tunnels are so much easier...
Because they already own so much Internet traffic already. They don't need my internal traffic too.
What a wild bear market this has been.
Dead: Blockfi, FTX, Three Arrows, Voyager, Celsius
On the chopping block: Binance, Coinbase
The next #bitcoin bull is going to be epic. No shitcoin casinos. No paper Bitcoin. No exchange Bitcoin for shortsellers to use against us. USA fucking up every way it can.
There's never been a dip I've bought that I regretted.
I don't know if we go lower. Bitcoin isn't a security and fundamentals haven't changed. Anyone who was going to sell with any conviction has already sold well before now.
At the chance of memeing: This is good for Bitcoin. It means less paper Bitcoin sell pressure during the next bull. Fuck all the exchanges, buy on Bisq 😄
Slowly then suddenly. Bitcoin is the life boat.

What automatic censorship?
Pupper is home safe from the hospital 🐶❤️ A little grumpy and tired but she's a champ
Poor girl is staying over night at the vet. Definitely myoglobin in her urine so they're going to give her fluids to keep her kidneys from clogging. #dogstr
I got that one from work haha they upgraded all of the ESXi hosts and were going to toss these. Dual xeons with 192GB RAM so much room for VMs
Be careful overdoing it! But afaik there's not like a warning that makes it more likely for you. Weird stuff fr
It's scary for sure. I had a 2 day hospital stay with rhabdo once. It's an issue where you over exert yourself and your body starts breaking down muscles to the point the kidneys just stop working.
My poor pup is peeing blood 😔 At a 24 hour hospital. Sounds like rhabdo though which I've actually had before.
Talk about high time preference lol
Woof I think I'd have waited
Happy birthday Hal. Thanks for everything you did for #bitcoin and us
What would light speed look like according to science: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFNgd3pitAI
Could make it a sidebar feature rather than main tab bar to use prime real estate for more used features.
I don't think that's the apps job. I don't want things filtered.
It ain't much but hope it helps mom 🤙
This is the only way I make steak now. Damn, now I want steak.
This is way cool

I'm running a script to build an S3 manifest. It's been running for around 6 hours and it's 30GB.
I _think_ it's almost done. I hope because I can't wait to start my weekend.

Very sick! A P90 has been on my wish list for a very long time.
I'd rather have a job where I was hanged by my toes for 8 hours a day than work for him.
I want a Nostr news aggregater like a Reddit clone. Reddit is the last centralized, non FOSS anything that I use.
Ah fuck I linked the wrong one. Thanks
Microstrategy set up a LN address for their employees emails.. Just zapped #[0] at
[email protected]. Seriously cool.
I haven't but just looked it up and that frothy cup looks delightful
Almost ready #coffeechain☕

I have considered mixing. I need a good coin control method before I'd take that on though. Unfortunately almost all of my UTXOs are deeply in the black so if I sell I'm paying tax. If I mix I'm paying tax.
I've also never used a defi service like robosats or bisq before. I know I need to do this just have to take the leap.
So it's tax season.. How the fuck do I even begin to report zaps?
"Here mister tax man, have this copy of my lnd/logs/bitcoin/mainnet/lnd.log. Have fun asshole."
I do this every once in a while with /r/buttcoin. It amazes me how every 6 months or so when I think to see what they're saying it's always the SAME arguments that have been debunked over and over.
It's amazing and makes me really sad if I empathize with how's they got that way. They're mad because they feel like they missed the boat. They haven't and could hop on any time but they just can't do it.
I hate tiktok but this is not about tiktok at all... It's about government overreach into things they have no business in.
Billy Strings is the shit. Have a good time!
Yep. I've learned my lesson. Unless I can figure this out this weekend I'll file an extension and get professional assistance.
#[0] got orange pilled tonight and has The Bitcoin Standard in their kindle list now
Also read a post from someone who got audited for similarly not being able to prove sends/receives were just transfers and they basically ruined the dudes life when he didn't do anything wrong except not have receipts. FUBAR
I'm using Cointracker and missing an xpub from when I consolidated different wallets. That's making each send/receive count as a sell/income and generating a return that's guaran-fucking-teed to flag me for an audit.
I should've gotten a CPA but I procrastinated and this is just a fucking mess now.
I'm trying to do taxes and this is my vibe rn
Fuck this shit.
Zapps is the shit tho. Voodoo flavor? Dog best chips out there https://www.target.com/p/zapp-39-s-new-orleans-kettle-style-voodoo-potato-chips-8oz/-/A-47086581
I don't really care for Lays any flavor so that tracks
This is the brand I had that were great. https://shop.herrs.com/products/ketchup
I'm genuinely curious what you think.
"Yep I'll take care of it as soon as I'm done shaving this yak"
Dunno if its the same brand you have but there's a Zapps brand that has ketchup flavored chips and they're INCREDIBLE
