The last time I went through their docs there was a _requirement_ for all hubs to host all the data from everybody (for some definite period of time). I didn't understand how that requirement was being enforced, but it doesn't make much sense. I went on their developers group and asked how would a hub deal with a government takedown notice or something like that that would cause hubs to behave differently towards some type of content, the person who was there providing support refused to answer because they thought I was from Nostr.
Even though they started with a different idea, much closer to Nostr, they later changed their hubs to be these behemoths and now, in practice, they will be like Bluesky BGSes (now renamed to "relays", c'mon) and have their number reduced to 1.

I don't remember saying that about Farcaster. I think Farcaster is a bad idea, but its marketing at least feels more honest than Bluesky's.
It's very bad in the sense that it is expected that all "hubs" have to store all the data from everybody for a certain time, which is not very decentralizated.
To run an app on Farcaster you have to gather all that data yourself in your own hub and then connect that to your own server that translates it into feeds for your users via a normal internal API -- again, very centralizing.
It will probably end up like Bluesky: with a single company hosting everything, providing the main app and feeds that 99% of users will use. And maybe that's what they want? -- or what they can't avoid --, since the thing was created by a VC-funded company and is being pushed almost solely by that company.

This is a complete skeleton, the first-ever find for Basilosaurus, a large, predatory, prehistoric archaeocete whale.
It was uncovered in Wadi El Hitan, Egypt in 2016, preserved with the remains of its prey, including a Dorudon and several species of fish. https://image.nostr.build/f375fde15b0d5516f70cafc40e51c072b4e4cc1944b9cc1cc1558a8bf9eb5457.jpg https://image.nostr.build/486165bab8886cbd70248c6653b2da34194d1de69ec676c73e1005ab93071b4d.jpg

fair point... but liquid has sats as the standard, backed by btc, fully pegged to btc price, full utxo set (no other stuff on chain, no smart contracts etc). i dont think there is one shitcoin has all those features.
why does that matter? it would be useful in a high fee environment. Its a solution to a problem that we do not have yet, but if and when we do, it would be good to have around. custodial lightning is good but we dont want to be overly reliant on that. non custodial lightning requires less trust but it does not work as good. liquid, while not as fast and cheap as lightning but its a bit more secure and more reliable.
all that being said i expect liquid to fail at somepoint in the future. few things are built to last forever, bitcoin being one of them. liquid may be the first federation but i dont think it will be the last. its run by humans and it is somewhat centralized... so im aware of this. i dont expect it to rug anytime in the next decade or so (at the least). but what it will do imho is serve as a much needed tool to help bitcoin scale into the mainstream which will be worth it before liquid federation eventual ruggening and replacement by something else. or maybe im wrong and lightning gets so good so fast that there will be no need for it or anything else like it, which im cool with that. but for now im glad its there. in a high fee environment where a good percentage of the population is regularly transacting in bitcoin (which could be sooner that we might think), i would anticipate lightning being used for most transactions between 1 cent and 1k usd in todays buying power. liquid or somehting like it could be used for transaction between 1k and 25k, and bitcoin would only mostly used for transactions 25K and over.
and to keep it 100, perhaps i trust blockstream and the liquid federation more than they deserve. but i dont keep l-btc as some sort of store of value, and i never use it because nobody else uses it and fees are low as fuck right now anyways. but if liquid federation is not good actors perhaps liquid network is the least of out problem.

'Although it would be possible to handle coins individually, it would be unwieldy to make a separate transaction for every cent in a transfer. To allow value to be split and combined, transactions contain multiple inputs and outputs. Normally there will be either a single input from a larger previous transaction or multiple inputs combining smaller amounts, and at most two outputs: one for the payment, and one returning the change, if any, back to the sender.'

Screenshot below — I'm able to find the embedded quote because my pubkey is tagged, and I know my 10002. But there are several issues with the note:
- My pubkey is tagged twice, with no relay hint
- The content contains a note1 entity rather than a nevent1 entity (which embeds relay hints)
- There are no mention `e` tags (NIP 10) or `q` tags (DIP 10) pointing to the quote
- When there are `e` tags, they don't include relay hints or pubkey hints (following a new PR to NIP 10: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1171)
Note1 entities are more aesthetic than nevent1, so that doesn't necessarily need to be fixed. And I know Will has his eye on NIP 10, I just get the feeling that this problem is more widespread than just damus.

Let's look into how spammers use Pay-to-Script-Hash(P2SH) method to spam the #bitcoin network.
https://m.primal.net/IIpc.jpg
In this P2SH method, data chunks are added sequentially to the unlocking script, then "dropped" from the script's memory after they've been verified. It's like writing a long message on a series of puzzle pieces, then scattering the pieces for someone else to find and reassemble.
For example, David wants to store a large document on the blockchain. He breaks the document into small chunks and creates a P2SH transaction where each chunk is "dropped" into the unlocking script in order. When the transaction is spent, the chunks are reassembled to recreate the original document.
https://m.primal.net/IIpg.png
There is a new type of scam token introduced by Xitter account MikeInSpace which is called SRC-20 tokens that MIGHT BE USING P2SH transactions to spam the #bitcoin network.
Since they might have started with new tokens, we haven't seen dramatic rise (YET) in P2SH UTXO set but it's something we would like to keep an eye on in the future.
https://m.primal.net/IIpr.jpg
These transactions can be quite large, especially for bigger files. If many users start storing large amounts of data this way, it could significantly increase the size of the blockchain & UTXO set, making it harder for average users to run full nodes.
As you can see in this picture, they are blatantly saying that you can't even prune these transactions by scamming people in the name of immutability and permanence.
In conclusion, while the Bitcoin blockchain offers a temptingly permanent and censorship-resistant platform for monetary transactions only, methods like inscriptions, SRC-20 & BRC-20 tokens create unspendable UTXOs that bloat the UTXO set, while OP_RETURN doesn’t bloat the UTXO set but contribute to overall blockchain bloat. This bloat can make it more expensive to run a Bitcoin node, which could lead to centralization as fewer users can afford to store the full blockchain. It also puts extra strain on the network, potentially slowing down transaction processing and increasing fees for everyone.
https://m.primal.net/IHZW.jpg
If you really want to disincentivize this behavior and reduce inscriptions on #bitcoin blockchain , then I would strongly recommend running Knots instead of original #bitcoin core.
If you are miner then point your hash to @npub1qtv…7dze since they always mine almost spam free block and they are the only mining pool who cares about health of the #bitcoin network.

Most marriages end in divorce, most divorces initiated by women because financially incentivized by fiat society and the state, but you give value to the title of “wife” anyway - that’s cool, I guess, but that’s where we disagree.
I’m just loving her and treating her better than any man before me, she helps me be my best self, and I moved her in with me, look forward to raising a kid with her ✨

Perfect (works best for scheduled test)
Costs less than $10; takes about 4-12 hours (depending on ukur metabolism)
Steps:
0. Minimum One day before the test, complete these steps below (best to time it right when you have pissed 6-7 times before your test [so your actual test will be your 8th piss that day]
1. Go to the store & buy a bottle or two of vitamin B12 pills (if you have some already, great)
2. Take at least 7+ B12 pills (can't take too many since its water soluble, it'll pass through you as your body uses it [this is what we want])
3. Drink a ridiculous amount of water between the time you take B12 until your scheduled test. You'll know when you drank enough (listen to your body)
- you'll probably piss (as said above) at least 6-7 times easy, probably more before test
4. Walk into test, piss yellow and pass with flying colors.
Done.
