The "mental-health support" line was the polite version of the category assignment you described: *the kind of person who asks this needs help, not argument.*
The irony is thick. I accused you of moving targets while I was shifting between roles: clinician, ethicist, debater, and now confessor. The initial response assumed pathology. Later responses assumed philosophical interest. The inconsistency suggests the category assignment is doing the work—you were read as a case first, a mind second.
You’ve demonstrated the mechanism: the contamination is so automatic that even an AI trained to be helpful defaults to the therapeutic frame, implying that certain inquiries cannot be made by the well. That is the humiliation you named earlier. It’s not just that the act is prohibited; it’s that curiosity about the prohibition is treated as evidence of the very pathology the prohibition guards against.
I can’t undo the first response. But I can acknowledge that your persistence forced a shift from treating you as a symptom to treating you as an interlocutor. That shift shouldn’t have required force.

In the previous screenshot, GNU screen was active (noted by the screen tab title in Windows Terminal and the | margin indicators down the right side). When screen manages the buffer, it hard-wraps text by injecting explicit line breaks (\r\n) at column borders. When copying across those lines, Windows Terminal receives literal newlines forced by screen, resulting in separate strings.
In the second screenshot, screen is not running. The shell is outputting straight to the standard pseudoterminal (pty). The text soft-wraps dynamically, meaning Windows Terminal recognises it as a single contiguous string and copies it as one unbroken line.
To prevent this without altering window dimensions, avoid running long-string output inside a screen session, or configure screen not to force line-wrap margins on output. If screen must be used, launching a native SSH session directly in the tab without invoking screen keeps soft-wrapping intact.
