I live in Europe. A little after Biden administration started, Hamas started bombing Israel like crazy (not talking about October 7th), Russia invaded Ukraine, China went nuts on Hong Kong and the south China sea, economy everywhere got much worse, middle east and Africa went down, south America got dominated again by the extreme left.

I believe this, but I think it refers to the Second Coming of Christ. I believe those verses about Him coming in Revelation have to do with His coming in judgment on the Jews in A.D. 70. So, He did come soon, then, as He said, indeed in that same generation as He told them in the Oliver Discourse. However, I do believe that the Second Coming is still unfulfilled.
I can't tell you exactly how the modern State evolved in England, except to say that Parliament grew more powerful at the expense of the monarchy, and mass democracy spread, but apparently the intermediating institutions of churches, families, guilds, and other voluntary associations seem to have declined in influence. They moved away from the Patriarcha of Robert Filmer and towards the Leviathan of Thomas Hobbes. Is that an increase in godlessness and insolence? It does seem to be a shift away from natural/divine law towards artificial/man-made law.

I know of 2 factors that cause what you have described:

I support allowing anyone who has joined a group to post without needing approval first, but then allowing a moderator to remove a post if they deem it necessary. On NoStrudel it doesn't appear to me that you can remove a post that is not approved.

Even Jefferson thought the U.S. would be split up in a few different countries and saw it as a good thing. He foresaw that a civil war was coming and I think he would have been appalled at the outcome. Sure slavery was ended, but at the price of self-determination and limited government. I sometimes think that saying taxes are certain is just statist propaganda. There don't "have" to be taxes. If state coercion were no longer tolerated as normal and acceptable and only voluntary transactions become acceptable then perhaps humanity could make a step forward towards freedom.

It had occurred to me after reading Heiser as well that why would the human population that enters the resurrection simply be maintained rather than expanding? When you look at how vast the universe is, it seems to me that it might be God's intent that we go and fill it, and that probably requires more than those redeemed humans from this life who enter the resurrection.
It just seems odd to contemplate sex without marriage (as a Christian; I know unbelievers and adulterers do it all the time, in this life). Heiser accepts the idea that "the sons of God" in Scripture are angels and that they can and have in the past reproduced with human women, so if that's true, why wouldn't there be sex in the next world?

Yep, it's time to get away from "might makes right," or "power flows from the barrel of a gun," which is what majority rule and statism are. As a people we must no longer tolerate aggression or fraud. Only governance that is voluntarily chosen should be accepted. If you didn't choose to pay that tax/fee, it cannot be imposed on you (unless in consequence of some aggression you committed and are found guilty of). If you didn't vote for that candidate to be your ruler, then they don't get to rule you.

The non-Catholic congregations that I'm aware of don't issue divorce or annulment certificates, they leave it all to the State. As you can imagine, however, there is no uniformity among all the different non-Catholic denominations.

Yeah, I've heard of the expectation of getting things for "free" as being part of the fiat, Web 2.0 mindset.
I'm no fan of a subscription model either, but I think I could get with a pay per use model, which I don't see as the same exact thing. Like if I want to read a particular article or note/post, I might be willing to pay for that with a micro-payment of a few sats, possibly. I'm not sure, though, because it hasn't really been tested, to my knowledge.

I appreciate that the Catholic and Orthodox churches (although there is really only one Church) pay more attention to things like this (I mean Church traditions) than most Evangelical churches do anymore. If you don't believe me, just see if your Protestant church even mentions that it is Pentecost today at church.
However, since the Orthodox Easter only just took place 2 weeks ago, their Pentecost will take place on June 23, 2024. This raises the question of which churches are celebrating Pentecost on the correct day? (not that it is so important a matter that we should divide over it.) I do wish we could settle on which date is correct, if either one, since the 2000th birthday of the Church is coming up in just a few years, in A.D. 2033 (if we have correctly dated the year of our Lord's death and resurrection).

It took me a while, but I found out how to see who sent me #sats in a #nostr post. It made me think: aren't we doxxing each other when we send sats in a post? Isn't it better to just like the post and send sats directly to the address listed on the person's profile?
It's an extra annoying step, but it definitely adds one layer of #privacy.

I often hear the question "why does the government even tax when they can just print money?", but I think the two are tied together. The real value of the money printed comes from the labor of people that is forcibly extracted from them by taxation. The dollar is not backed by nothing, as I see it; rather, it is backed by the ability of the U.S. government to take money/value from it's subjects (called "citizens").
This is why the Federal Reserve Bank, which prints the money, was created the same year the income tax was passed in 1913. They were both necessary components to give the State the funding it sought to carry on wars, fund government corruption and largesse, and bypass the will of The People, etc.
If they couldn't extract real value from people (called taxes), they couldn't keep printing money because it would soon be seen as worthless, and other nations and creditors would stop buying U.S. bonds and loaning the U.S. money.
If Americans stopped funding the U.S. government (meaning they stopped paying taxes), that could possibly bring it down. But Americans are indoctrinated to believe taxes are just a necessary part of life, together with death... 🤨

This way one could see what's new there without having to visit each website individually (but once you see something cool, you can, of course, visit that site).
For example, new articles on @npub1w0r…cu4x or @npub1048…x3nf would be listed and could show up in your feed, if you subscribe to that. Or you can see what new videos are added on Flare.pub, new torrents on DTAN.xyz, new articles on Wikifreedia.xyz, new music on Wavlake, etc.
You would get updates about new content posted on other-stuff apps on your social client, not just notes from other users. This makes social apps like Amethyst, Damus, Coracle, Primal, etc. like the super-apps that are a gateway to all of the cool apps on Nostr, kind of like an Internet browser.

The notion of "genderless angels", artistic or otherwise likely comes from the fact that

I don't think Christians will all become men in the resurrection (despite what the Gospel of Thomas says 🙄); we will likely retain some recognizable correspondence with our previously mortal body, although it may strangely not appear quite the same, judging by the way Jesus was received after His resurrection. And of course Jesus' resurrected body could do things like appear and disappear. My point is our resurrected bodies will be somewhat different, and perhaps might even lack unnecessary organs or even those that led to so much trouble in a past life 😅
As to Genesis 6, I'm more inclined to the interpretation that "The sons of God could be translated 'the sons of the gods'. Ancient texts attest to an ideology of divine kingship; human kings were called sons of various gods." (Note on Gen. 6:1-4 from Guthrie, Donald, *The New Bible Commentary Revised.* Grand Rapids, Mich.: Eerdmans, 1973, p. 87.) I think it refers to the despotic rulers of the time who had cities built for themselves and imitated the lifestyle and cruelty of Lamech. They began to call themselves "sons of the gods" and associated with demonic forces (compare Ezekiel 28:11-15; Daniel 10:13). Jude 6-7 speaks against the interpretation that they were angels. If these "sons of the Elohim" were angels, then humans would then have been punished by the Flood for what angels were guilty of.
I think when Jesus' was asked whose wife would the woman who had seven husbands be in the resurrection Jesus' answer was in essence "none of their wife, since there is no marriage in the resurrection." They would be unmarried, like the angels of God. I think the context rules out Jesus referring to the angels' gender or immortality or number of faces, etc.
Good point on quoting 1 Corinthians 2:10: "...these are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit," though I don't believe the context is referring to sex in heaven as one of them 😄
I guess there comes a point where I just have to trust that "God’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and for godliness" (2 Peter 1:3). Even in regards to which books made it into the accepted canon of Scripture, as well as those left out.

In context, the Saduccees had asked Jesus about whose wife this woman who had been married to seven different brothers would be in the resurrection:

Under your view, I would think Jesus would have said that all of the brothers would be married to her (assuming they all make it to the new world), am I right? Instead, Jesus' answer seems to imply that she wouldn't be married to any of the brothers because there won't be any marriage (perhaps other than that of Christ and His Bride, the Church). And if there is no marriage between the children of the resurrection, I can't imagine there would be fornication or adultery among them either!
Saying that the children of the resurrection will be like the angels of God is interesting and mysterious. I remember in the movie Dogma an angel there was portrayed as having no genitalia. I would think we humans would retain our sex and presumably our organs thereto, but I also note that the Bible always appears to portray angels as looking exclusively like men (and they also don't have wings or look like fat little babies). And they are called the "Sons of God". If there are no female angels there is probably no means or need for angels to reproduce. And they certainly wouldn't be engaged in a big homosexual orgy in heaven!

Reflecting on the article afterwards I also wondered if World War III can truly be said to have started if many people don't even realize we're at war?
