People post a note, it does nothing, and they figure the note was bad. Sometimes. But plenty of the time it never got out of the building.
Your kind 10002 is a change of address form. You signed it, it’s on relays right now, go look at it. Write relays are where you drop mail off. Read relays are the box on your porch where replies and zaps come back.
Outbox clients read that form and drive to your post office. So if you listed a relay two years ago and it’s since gone down, or one quietly stopped taking your events, those followers are standing at an empty counter. And you’re at home thinking nobody liked it.
Nothing gets re-pinned either, not in a follow feed. Everything slides down the board at one speed and nobody walks back to move it up.
Kind 6 is you sliding my note across the table with your name on the outside. A quote is a kind 1 with a q tag, so your buddy wrote his own thing and stapled mine to it. Guess which one his people actually read.
Zaps cost money. Reactions and reposts don’t. NIP-57 leaves the receipt on relays where anyone can go count it, and most-zapped and trending run off that.

Yes, I have mentioned exactly this previously. Amethyst assumes that all relay lists other than inbox/outbox (kind 10002) should be private lists, and therefore encrypted. However, this is the LEAST compatible with other Nostr clients, and users have no way to choose not to have those lists encrypted.
Nevertheless, ALL Nostr clients should expect that lists can contain encrypted content, and support reading that content if they support those lists. This is detailed in NIP-51 (Lists), which says, "Lists can contain references to anything, and these references can be public or private... private items are specified in a JSON array that mimics the structure of the event tags array, but stringified and encrypted using the same scheme from NIP-44 (the shared key is computed using the author's public and private key) and stored in the .content."
I started an LLC and started making apps. I have a AI powered news alert app with a subscription. I broke the backend that powers it. Pushed a botched update to the production server without fully testing it because I've been so focused on my wife's health issues. Spent the last two weeks trying to fix it. The update was tied to an app update and I pushed both with no rollback plan because I didn't have any users yet. But now if anybody downloads my app it's not going to work. I'm in over my head with this and Codex is struggling with the backend codebase because it's gotten so large. It'll get there eventually. Once I get it working again I'll pay for some advertising. It's funny it had zero downloads until the bad update and then people started downloading it. 🤣
