One of the most toxic features on X (and maybe elsewhere too) is this "only certain people can reply" thing. I mean, what the hell is that? You shout something out into the world, but only certain people get to comment on it? That's what private groups are for. When you use it on a public platform like X, 99% of the time it's for one of these reasons: you're a snowflake, you expect pushback, you're too weak to handle it, so you just shut that whole part down. In short, you're a cowardly, self-important rat who wants to talk to the masses but won't tolerate any backtalk, you little dictator. But a private chat group doesn't give you enough of an audience.
That's how you plant toxicity into a platform. You sugarcoat it at first with "but there's also assholes, you know, yada yada" and then you sit back and watch it get used only by assholes.
But hey, at least we can't see who liked or reposted stuff anymore.
Long live Nostr!
You are watching a master at work.
They will make ads to block ads?
BTW I’m not against ads. I just prefer an influencer over a tv commercial.
🪦
My agent exactly before it told me it hit the rate limit. Zap for infinite tokens. Let’s call it the Yellow Team.

This is a higher calling.
Oh nice. Can it play video?
The tool is called minimalism 😂
One black pair of jeans and 3 dark grey T-shirts.
Centralized on a few servers. Server admins can ban you.
That’s why I posted what I posted.
I fear….
NoorNote. Starts with 'Data saver' mode active after installation on mobile. You can easily switch it on and off in the sidebar.
Oh sorry, I missed that with iOS.
Instead of sunglasses they should be known as Adglasses.
Life will never be without ads, won’t it?
What next, it died! Amarigh?
Yeah, the Turks need Bitcoin the most, with their 100 years of experience with hyperinflation. But forget it, deference to the state is still written in capital letters there. And the few percent you see in those stats are just ordinary crypto gamblers. A few risk takers chasing a quick profit.
Btw this is mainly a grassroots movement, not coming from any Islamic authority. Still not easy for us to get some attention for this topic as Muslims have also normalized interest/usury.
lol, ok jetzt musste ich laut lachen. Aber isso
I might be wrong here, but as far as I've read, interest was originally forbidden in Christianity too. So there is a common ground here.
Not beyond repair. We can still fix it in the next 8 years and give them a hard time.
By some maybe. Not by everybody
In 2 months, I'll be at the MBS in London inshallah.

Direct & punchy: "The legacy financial system is colluding to destroy Bitcoin, aided by traitors and useful idiots. The fork wasn't a technical dispute,it was #Bitcoin versus the establishment. I don't get why people are still debating #BIP110 like it's a technical argument when it's really a fight for Bitcoin's survival against the powers that be."

YES! Probably the best thing that comes from a channel is getting showered with the bleeding-edge stuff.
"How much resistance can node operators exercise at the policy layer without attempting to force a consensus change?"
This right here is what monetary maximalist bitcoiners need to explore and focus on going forward.

dove deep and still didn't reach SAIF
how far in are you, akhi?

True. I don't have a solution either.
My first shot would be, radical freedom of choice and exclusion where necessary. But that doesn't work in Bitcoin space right now, because "Bitcoin is everybody", even for its enemies. But we could counter that, if we built a radical circular economy with things that are hard to get. Like raw milk in certain areas, or unpoluted food. So that it pays out to spend now rather than hodl it for indefinite times.
On Nostr it's much easier among the devs. Because with devs we have a free market here. Hundreds of clients, some are bad (linking you to big tech), some are not. So the user can make a conscious choice.
But also in Bitcoin. Core and Knots are not enough. Especially with Knots we can't tie it to one person, no matter how good he is. We need more alternatives in implementation, way more.
he probably needed a diaper change 🤫
Maybe the outcome of BIP-110 on Saturday wasn't so bad after all. The result was unexpected, sure, but it showed us two things we hadn't really been paying attention to, things that might matter more in the long run than OP_RETURN:
1. We underestimated how much fiat corruption there is among miners, and we barely did anything about it.
2. Even our heroes got swallowed up by their own narcissism, spiraling further into radicalization and losing touch with reality.
And we don't have any mechanisms in place to keep either of those in check. Maybe we should start taking seriously the idea that Bitcoin, just like Nostr, is more deeply tied to self sovereignty and the cypherpunk ethos than we've been assuming, and that these principles need to be nurtured and protected before the software itself.

If governments could legislate prosperity, poverty would have been outlawed decades ago.
Venezuela’s statutory wage floor: ~$0.17/month.
Burundi: ~$0.76.
Cuba: ~$4.76.
Georgia: ~$7.64.
These are legal floors, not typical pay.
The law controls the number. Productivity and the currency control what it buys.
