A friend of mine has noticed a worrying trend with his employer posting leaderboards for AI agent use at the company and judging employee performance. The LB has no context, just a list of names and values with no indication of meaning.
My take is that this isn't necessarily reflective of performance. What if one person is using an expensive model and burning credits? How smart are the queries? Is the leaderboard one snapshot in time or over a longer period.
I'm all for the use of AI - it makes my job much easier, but when I hear stories from my friend where execs are ranking employee performance based on usage, I have to wonder if AI is helping or hurting the workforce.
