Conflating nodes and relays is a bad heuristic. You run a node because you have an economic incentive to secure your money and the network, shitposts and spam are not as valuable

I don't think it will make sense long term for "nostr" to be a bunch of free, public relays for app developers and spammers to abuse

Asus ascent were so well priced just a few weeks ago, then price went up like 40% fml. Get the cheapest model you can find they are all basically the same in terms of output speed. If you can get on Amazon or microcenter then go for it.
