be the change you want to see in the universe bro
what's obviously more true than any other truth: 130 extra million people in the country are the primary downward pressure on wages and upward pressure on housing prices.

VPN Node Update Schedule:
Sunday - Netherlands
Monday - Iceland
Both at:
7pm UTC EU
3pm EST USA
3am Hong Kong
We are attempting to do these transitions with as minimum disruption in service as possible. However, keep in mind, even if it goes smoothly, we need to test linux kernel tweaks on speed, across multiple protocols, which means guaranteed restarts. Expect some downtime potentially 20 minutes to an hour, potentially longer if there's technical issues. And don't be fooled by immediate results, only to get restarted on.
for vless, yes. for hysteria with quic, do you think bbr helps? i found it did not. As hysteria2 has it's own congestion control, which I believe is what you referenced by "constant speed". You used brutal mode?

Burning a building named after Nelson Mandela is a much bigger blasphemy in France than burning the Notre-Dame. Catholicism is a religion that nobody takes seriously in the country but about 40% of the population earnestly worships niggers far more reverently than anyone has professed Christ in the country at least since the First Republic
LOL the niggers burned the magic nigger building.

the primary pressure on housing prices is not inflationary. Inflation doesn’t create supply or demand, and is therefore irrelevant in the equation of labor to housing. The primary pressure is 130 million extra brown people in my country, which creates demand for the limited supply of housing and drives up the price, as well as drives down the cost of labor as labor becomes more plentiful. This is the reason that wages are not keeping up with inflation. It’s not a magical thing where you print more money and labor gets worth less as a result. Wages are a marketplace, and the marketplace has been flooded with brown scabs that we need to pick.
Inflation is when the currency is worth less, not when the labor is worth less. This has nothing to do with inflation. I am not measuring fundamentally in dollars. I am measuring in hours of labor spent. We went from 2 hours of labor for a room to 9 hours of labor for a room.
> Trailers for sale or rent
> Rooms to let, fifty cents
> No phone, no pool, no pets
> I ain't got no cigarettes
> Ah, but two hours of pushing broom
> Buys a eight by twelve four-bit room
Roger Miller's classic *King of the Road*, detailing the economic conditions at the time for the itinerant (who, witnessing vagrants at train stations, inspired him to write this song) details how good the boomers had it -- two hours of minimum wage labor could get a room for a night. I did a simple search for rooms in what were described as America's cheapest capitals. The cheapest actual room I found when I put in "I'm flexible" and willing to not accept any specific date was $60, which is slightly more than one can make on minimum wage in an 8 hour shift. I'm sure there are some roadside motels not indexed on the Internet somewhere, but I'm absolutely sure that none of them are as cheap as $14.50, two hours of the federal minimum wage.
I found hostels in cities with train hubs for roughly $20, so anyone today would have to work an extra hour to not even have a room, just a bed in a room full of other "people" who are statistically certain to eventually steal your possessions over a long enough timeline. 50% increase in cost in labor-hours for something so significantly less that it is a fundamental threat to being able to live a stable life. It is materially impossible to be an itinerant laborer living solely off the virtue of your labor now.

True fungibility protects everyone, from a tiny criminal minority to the honest masses
Strip privacy from money and you don't stop crooks, you cage everyone
I care about the decentralized database securing my fucking money being secure. Formal verification does not provide a security guarantee! I’m not against formal verification, but why is it that the people focusing on it and touting it in marketing have the worst security records? I find that a lot of people are just repeating phrases without understanding the implications of them.
Formal verification only provides security guarantees within very limited ranges where a system can be perfectly modeled as a series of transforms with very explicit definitions. Formal verification is a nice to have within the confines of some systems, but it is not a panacea.
> due to Monero's nature it's too hard to build a layer 2
This is not true. Drivechains are the actual answer to scaling Bitcoin that would not be a failure driven by fraud like Lightning. And the ingredients to synthesize drivechains on Monero are already there. Monero already has sidechains like p2pool and merge mining with Tari. When Monero needs drivechain scale, it isn’t a big project.
> the moment they delegate operation to experts, all of Monero's advantages become meaningless
All blockchains have delegated operation to experts. These are called “miners”. And Monero’s advantage is fungibility, which does not change dependent upon who is mining it.
> you fundamentally can never achieve scalability with layer 1 alone, and it was fairly convincing.
It’s also fairly convincing to just do the napkin math and count the number of people that can open a Lightning channel. It’s not very many. It’s certainly well below the population of earth. LN people then say that custodial solutions are inevitable so we should just accept that all of LN is custodial. At that point why have LN at all? Why not just have custodial Bitcoin? Lightning has massive rates of failed transactions in the real world. Actual normal businesses see 25% of their transactions fail. You have a ton of lost time, lost money. Lightning does not scale.
Bitcoin hasn’t solved the scaling problems, and Core has rejected the solution that is actually practical (BIP300/BIP301). So Bitcoin can’t scale, Lightning can’t scale. Monero could scale with drivechains just as easily as Bitcoin, but that isn’t an issue yet.
Between two blockchains that haven’t solved the “scale to 8 billion people” problem, I’ll take the money that is actually fungible and useful money. Monero can adopt drivechains in time, as people actually begin to use it more. Monero has the advantage of not having an invasion of scammers and frauds like Saylor and Blackrock. Its fee structure is perfectly correlated to actual usage, not speculative mania and scammers.
very nice, did not know that page, thank you!
HOLY SHIT THE UPGRADE WORKED.
Speed Test as 2nd hop on the same Seattle IP:
VLESS - 720 down
vs
Wireguard - 350 down
How? Because Wireguard is a dumb pipe. It just encrypts data and sends it. Wireguard's UDP has no feedback mechanism, which means packets fill a buffer to wait (or die) on the 2nd hop.
This is even more pronounced when you have two Wireguard configs (one tunnel inside another like Tor). Other than HydraVeil, most commercial VPNs don't hide from the 1st server. Mullvad sees your traffic naked. But that 2nd inner WG config is more vulnerable to Wireguard's flaws.
In sharp contrast, vless' pure tcp allows for kernel optimizations, which give feedback on that 2nd hop, to slow down if the "waiting room" is full. This makes sure nothing gets dropped, and we clear the 2nd hurdle, without relying on the app itself to bitch about a single missing packet. All the while, masking to the ISP that it's a regular https connection.
All I know is grind.
Yesterday's Moldova upgrade was a success.
Today we're doing Seattle USA, and we'll try to keep downtime to a minimum. It might only be like 20 minutes if it goes smooth.
Starts:
lunchtime LA
7pm UTC
never heard that. source?
hey man, I remember having a hostile conversation with your prior. The real question is "who are you?" that I should be on the hook to give customer service to essentially spam
Dude, we’ve had a decade of LN shilling and there’s something like 24 times as much Bitcoin locked up in WBTC than in Lightning channels. Lightning is already fucking dead. El Salvador is moving to stablecoins with the rest of the world now. Any hope for Bitcoin to be money is fucking gone, on a long enough timeline it’s all alt season. Thank Core being subverted by Epstein’s pals and sabotaged into ossifying as something still ridiculously unusable.
I don't hate Litecoin! They actually do some impressive stuff, and they've tried to confront a lot of the problems Satoshi expounded upon that Core gave up on, such as adding a privacy primitive with Mimblewimble. But making it an optional primitive instead of ledgerwide was a mistake. Still, both LTC and BCH did a bunch of cool stuff but misunderstood the importance of fungibility, which is why they didn’t get widespread adoption.
^ retarded nerd assertion
Lightning has had tons of problems in the past 10 years. Monero virtually none! The world’s most critical systems aren’t formally verified! Software written in Forth that was shot into space and is still working decades later without bugs isn’t formally verified! Erlang switches with 9 nines of reliability for decades straight aren’t formally verified! SSH isn’t formally verified, but a lot more depends on its security than any digital currency (and it is very secure despite being significantly more complicated than LN). NGINX, any name server daemons people actually use, none of this is formally verified.
LN is bad because the basic theory is bad. It does not work as people market it on paper, and there are a ton of stupid kludges built on that foundation to try to deliver on the promises of Lightning’s most vocal proponents despite the protocol fundamentally being incapable of what they promised. Monero is, in fact, orders of magnitude more reliable than Lightning, and is not constantly failing in hilarious and absurd ways like. Lightning.
In contrast, Zcash people are the type to jerk off about formal verification (as if I can trust the proofs these disgusting yids and trannies assert are implemented correctly). And they had an inflation bug in *checks notes* June. This kind of idiotic academic handwaving of “just solve all your problems with formal verification” doesn’t really fly in the real world. In fact, jerking off about this academic shit seems to have a perfect negative correlation with security.
yes there's a lot more completely dysfunctional and chronically unreliable infrastructure that is also similarly periodically going to get completely owned out there
LOL, Lightning completely owned again. The payment system of the future, people!

if we are going to have a namespace blockchain for Nostr why wouldn’t it be a Nostr specific namespace chain? Why should it be namecoin, where all the names are already taken?
It’s the cost of freedom. That’s part of why I think a NIP-05 is bad actually, it just encourages impersonation and bad behavior at scale. If someone is pasting your public key they can’t go wrong. But any kind of human readable username means you either have censorship or impersonation. Well, unless you have a blockchain involved like Namecoin.
Monero hides sender, receiver and amount by default

First attempt at triple protocol moldova upgrade did not work. We're trying again.
Moldova VPN node will be down for as brief a time as possible, in the middle of the night there,
3am Chisinau Moldova
20 UTC
3pm UTC-5 USA
Also note, if you are using an older version of HydraVeil, please upgrade to 2.8.0 immediately by downloading the new appimage from the website. The in-app auto-update is having issues for some users.

people used to say I was really brave for standing up to the government and shit talking the retarded ghetto judge who was obviously going to sentence me to the maximum in retaliation and did. But I wasn’t brave. I was actually terrified 24/7 of this gang of criminal thugs and still am. But I couldn’t have done anything else because I have zero impulse control when it comes to saying what I think. I know the consequences for speaking are there. I don’t want to suffer them! I am afraid of them. I would stop myself from telling the truth if I could, but I don’t have the capacity to do so. I’m never been brave, it’s actually that I am retarded
> It's not an on chain privacy thing.
I agree completely. However, it has been aggressively marketed as such by its creators. The second link saying it is a privacy tool is the creator’s website. The third is the world’s largest exchange, directing telling people that it solves Bitcoin’s privacy problems. The problem with this entire ecosystem is that defending Core’s ossification has become a fractal of scams and fraud. Because outside of Monero, most every other cryptocurrency is heavily correlated to Bitcoin. So you have to continue convincing people that Bitcoin’s actual utility as future money is right around the corner. And the minimum viability utility for money includes privacy, so you have to absolutely lie to people’s faces about Bitcoin’s privacy capabilities constantly. So you get instances like the guy upthread saying absolutely retarded shit like “Lightning is private!” No, the onion routing of LN is retardedly unreliable and nobody is using BOLT12. It is not private at all. And you get something like SP coming around, which similarly only allows an extremely sophisticated person to construct privacy in Bitcoin, if they use coin control on every single transactions to never combine UTXOs and atomic swap to a different Monero subaddress afterwards. But nobody is ever going to use it like that (and some UTXOs would eventually have too little value to pay the necessary on-chain fee for the larger atomic swap transaction anyways). So you get people who don’t actually have a real urgent need for privacy and will never see immediate harsh consequences for the failure of not having it repeating shit that they don’t have the capacity to understand the falsehood of told to them by scam operations pushed by whales who want to insulate Bitcoin from its failures by absolutely lying to people in a completely fraudulent manner.

This is totally a wrong attitude. Do you know who the person most likely to violate computer crime laws against you is? Think about it for a second. Really think. It’s your spouse or romantic partner. Like 99% of credential theft is the person you have sex with stealing your password to read your DMs. Privacy matters for average people all the time. If you can see on blockchain your transactions, any slut can track you. Coffee purchases tie you to a specific place.
Secondly, I have had people who have sent coffee amounts, less than $10, have their exchange accounts closed for sending me Bitcoin. There’s a guy on Twitter that posted how he got a $10 or so Lightning transaction frozen by the AML division at Strike. The CEO, Jack Mallers, ended up personally resolving that — but it just goes to show that to the authorities, even small transactions are carefully tracked and catalogued. Privacy matters to everyone, normies and dissidents alike. Transactions volumes small and large. If you don’t have base layer privacy, you do not have fungible money.
> coinjoining including spending from coinjoins similar to Moneros ring signatures
The vast majority of CoinJoins that have ever been made are completely blown open now, because the signing keys of enough participants have already been compromised. Huge numbers of compromised ColdCard wallets were used in CoinJoins, which has reduced the mix set to an amount that is laughable. When you engage in a CoinJoin you are trusting that the other participants have securely generated their private keys with proper entropy, will never have their private key compromised by law enforcement seizure, are not actually subversive participants from law enforcement/security services/chainalysis firms. All these assumptions are dangerous and have been proved bullshit by time.
This week Robin Linus, the co-creator of Glass Coins/ShieldedCSV (the bleeding edge and most useful proposal for Bitcoin privacy) did a whiteboard session comparing his proposal with Shielded Bitcoin. After comparing the two, he begins talking about how the best solution for Bitcoin privacy would actually be having a snarks primitive introduced as a feature by Core. But that’s not going to happen, because Core is captured by corporate subversives that refuse any privacy features. I recommend you watch the lecture so you actually understand Bitcoin’s privacy landscape, and how far away we are from having useful privacy features in Bitcoin, of which none have been implemented yet:
https://x.com/robin_linus/status/2104266654226198827
Even Silent Payments (which are better to have than not) do not provide a single privacy guarantee on Bitcoin. They only defer the date by which your privacy will be busted. If I send money to a SP address, I cannot guarantee that my privacy will be maintained because the recipient can choose to violate it, because Bitcoin does not provide shielding to the sender (in contrast to Monero). If you are targeted by the government and raided, when your SP private key is seized they will have a perfect record of everyone’s transactions.
You can also accidentally invalidate privacy with SP for both sender and recipient by combining UTXOs. Silent Payments, to actually facilitate privacy, require you to never KYC at an exchange and *never* combine UTXOs. Normal people are not going to be using coin control on every transaction. Imagine telling a normal person “you’re using it wrong! You can’t combine UTXOs when you spend your money, and you can’t send multiple UTXOs to your exchange separately either! You’re piercing the privacy veil!” Any reasonable person would conclude that privacy on Bitcoin is a big fucking joke. It’s ridiculous.
idk speak for yourself, I want an ai mommy with huge knockers to call me a good boy and feed me bograch
XMR is not a shitcoin. It is the actual literal fulfillment of Satoshi’s vision and desires for a currency free of state manipulation. Satoshi literally said of ledger privacy, exact quote, “If a solution was found, a much better, easier, more convenient implementation of Bitcoin would be possible.”
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=770.msg8637#msg8637
In the same thread he describes a ring signature scheme! He wasn’t talking about L2 of any sort. Not a sidechain. Not merge mining. Satoshi thought that privacy should be on the base layer. But Core is captured by a multitude of people who want ledger transparency, Saylor and Blackrock, who say that it would be bad for institutional centralization for Bitcoin to adopt ledger privacy.
Monero means money. Until Core’s current subversives are fired and prioritizing implementing privacy by default, Monero is the real Bitcoin. Most everything else is financial spyware, and a shitcoin.
