Europeans ( or their ancestors) would have had darker skin in those days anyways.
Especially if some were started 10 thousand plus years ago.
Contracting out the building of a country to Mexicans still kinda sounds like Mexicans built it to be honest.
You could say white people paid all their money to Mexicans to build houses while only having 1 or two kids while the Mexicans all had 4 plus to replace the white people.
