Do you prefer writing the first draft or editing it?

For me, the first draft sometimes involves a lot of free-flowing words and exploratory fun. But more often than not, it feels like a jumble of poorly written scenes and dialogue vomited on the page.

I much prefer having the bones of the story down in order to make it shine.
