first thing I’d say is yes, most of Europe has some sort of deep-rooted racism problem. America definitely does not have any kind of monopoly on that, it is wishful to think otherwise.

Second thing I’d say, at least from a UK perspective, is there is a lot of second-hand racism for Romani people based on attitudes towards travellers (of which many are of Romani background, but certainly not all are). Travellers are contentious here because of a ton of topics like taxation, land use, crime, environment, education… that attracts a lot of angst which I think often ends up turning into (or straight-up is) racism against Romani people, sadly. It’s a really complicated problem, but racism is one million percent not the answer (just like always).
