I played Eve Online. The amount of time single people spend there to do heists for virtual assets is mind boggling. This could be a group, but also a very dedicated single person on their way to get rich. I think they didn't planed this exact plot two years ago, but secured their maintainer ship of a core part of the infrastructure, with low churn but high installation base.
