btw this is part of how a Message Authentication Code (MAC) works, simple ones are a more simple form of one way function than an elliptic curve signature but a signature is also a MAC, as you has the message and that lets you validate the signature if you have the public key that did the signature (HMACs use this same thing but instead use a hash function, it's cheaper)
