Loved the vibes around #Nostr. Whipped up a server and was on it for a month, so I know.
- Non judgemental crowd
- No need to constantly look over your shoulder if you will be policed or your server will be Fediblocked because you have an unpopular opinion e.g. being a TERF or anti-LGBTQ or anti-Bitcoin or anti-Kamala or anti-Trump.
- You don't like something or are being abused, you settle it on your own instead of shouting #Fediblock #Fediblock or going to your admins, tagging admins, and then lecturing about 'creating a safe place'.
Only downside is that it has a set of its own 'celebs'. And just as the Fediverse is littered with Democrats and its supporters, it's the reverse in Nostr - though I did stumble across a few but they were more on the nuanced side and not aggressive. Of course, too much talk of crypto, which can be nauseating.
