I vote in a state that has quite good voting laws by US standards and I still had a year* I didn't get to vote in any elections because it turns out permanent absentee voters have to manually re-register each calendar year & I didn't know that. Voting is too complicated a machine in the US even before you get to suppression! A lot can go wrong. It's worth checking.
