It’s no secret that storing your wealth in dollars is not the greatest idea. We all look for ways to maintain or increase our purchasing power. We take dollars and we trade them into something that will hold value as a solution to the depreciating money problem. One solution that I’m not on board with is treasury bonds.
A treasury bond is essentially a claim for future dollars, but what will those future dollars be worth? The value of the dollar is variable. It’s difficult to predict the purchasing power of a dollar in 10 to 30 years, but it is a given that it will be worth less. It’s ironic to run away from the dollar by investing in dollars. A better solution is investing in an asset that you see value in. Invest in an asset that is appreciating, not one that is constantly depreciating.
