This sounds very cool. I agree with Jeff that no normies are going to do this though. However, if we expect to eventually move to paid relays, it may be a good opportunity for Bitcoin friendly VPNs to bundle their service with a relay multiplexer so that your IP is only exposed to the VPN that sees it anyway.
