Thank you Super Testnet. I have been thinking about this, and I’m running into issues with a multisig setup. Perhaps this is something bitVM is also unable to solve.
If Alice adds funds for collateral and Bob refuses to respond, then Alice loses her collateral and it cost Bob nothing.
We could make it where Alice can get her money back if Bob doesn’t respond. However, if Bob does respond and Alice pays, Bob could use his own private key to take back his part. Now Bob has his 10 BTC + the payment, but Alice is short the payment and only gets her collateral back.
So the incentives are better if it’s all or nothing for both, but Bob can be evil for free. Would bitVM run into the same dilemma?

I’ve been trying to help @npub1nev…jmve. They have built a GUI program that lets you install an upgraded signet version of Bitcoin Core with BIP300. There are also a few sidechains like Thunder and a privacy focused zcash fork.
Paul Sztorc is currently building CUSF, which stands for Core-Untouched Soft Fork. It will allow miners and users to choose future soft forks in an organized manner.

One pool cannot "just steal the money" and you know this. It takes six months with a constant 10 minute reminder that your pool is trying to steal the funds.
Hashers have a ridiculous amount of time to switch, it is very easy to switch, and they are incentivized to switch because the pool is wasting their work.
If a single mining pool has over 51% hashrate, then Bitcoin is in trouble anyway. BIP300 recognizes this and keeps the miners on a very short leash.

Hashrate escrow does solve this. No corporation has to run an LSP or have massive liquidity to route payments. Instead, that liquidity can be used to buy L2 coins and onboard users directly without their own L1 txn.
Some say it makes the miners a custodian, but that is not true. It would require thousands of hashers, collectively agreeing to continue stealing funds for 6 months- while everyone sees what they are doing every 10 minutes and they waste their Proof of Work.
The only time drivechain funds will get "stolen" is when miners and economic nodes have agreed to kill a sidechain and hard fork to another. In this case, miners can offer atomic swap to the new chain before the old dies, and nobody loses money.

- Roger actually provided one of the biggest criticisms of Craig. Yes, he believed Craig was Satoshi; but if you remember everyone laughing at Craig because he didn’t know Bitcoin addresses have a checksum- it was Roger who said this.
- yes, the trade offs of Lightning are far worse than the trade offs of big blocks. Constant online connectivity is not good. But there are many more problems with Lightning. There is a reason most people use custodial wallets, and it’s going to get much worse.
- many prominent Bitcoiners are recommending MSTR and I’ve even heard it compared to a Bitcoin ETF. I really don’t care, but it seems a little hypocritical to pump a centralized stock just because it’s associated with Bitcoin. The association with Bitcoin and the inevitable pump and dump is what makes it an affinity scam.
- the privacy tools on Bitcoin do not compare to Monero or zCash. They are also very difficult for the average user to understand, and splitting UTXOs in a high fee environment is not a good UX. Confidential Transactions are not private transactions. These L2 providers have to stay legal.
- BIP300 will be available on Bitcoin very soon. Soft forks don’t require consensus, and that is why they work so much better than hard forks.

I am not a BCH shill. I think large blocks on L1 are a bad idea, but this does not mean large blocks do not have a use case.
The problem with big L1 blocks is it makes the cost to run an L1 node too expensive. If less people can run a full node, then the 21 million could be compromised. The 21 million is all that matters.
With a big block sidechain, pegged 1:1 by Bitcoin’s proof of work, it doesn’t matter if the optional L2 node is a bit more expensive. We can have multiple big block sidechains with atomic swaps; so the 21 million is always secured, and the sidechains are still FAR more decentralized than any shitcoin or custodial lightning.

Yes, people definitely don’t care about privacy on social media.
I’m not sure if this is possible (maybe @npub180c…h6w6 knows), but it might be cool if nostr relays could take on the role of a VPN. Maybe when you hit Post, your IP is sent to a single, random relay, and they broadcast your note to your other relays with their own IP.

Most people don’t care about privacy, but it’s important that privacy tools are built so that they can say "I don’t want privacy" while having the option to anonymously and privately transact anyway. If our Bitcoin is not hidden from the government, they can easily throw a million $5 wrenches at us.

Do you think we will still use Visa and keep everything the same, but the dollar will be "backed by" Bitcoin? Or will it just be another reserve like oil and gold?

I say maybe, because that may be what "hyperbitcoinization" looks like. I hope not. The only logical solution I can find is BIP300, but nobody else likes it. So I’m wondering what hyperbitcoinization looks like to others.
Law cannot go around killing innocent people on a maybe, but the Law most certainly does kill countless innocent people for less than that
