Agreed, poor choice of the word "just" , but the point was that metadata leaks are in your hands. Also agreed that It's harder for people with a lower understanding, but such is the nature of privacy in software tools.
Either do the work to be self sovereign, or be at the behest of institutions and hope for the best.
