I'm not sure, his heyday as a Bitcoiner was before my time. Every video I've seen him in demonstrate him as an incredibly articulate champion of the protocol.

Even if he is a shitcoiner it's hard not to respect the work he's done.

I wouldn't mind knowing more about the background here myself.
