Just because your LLM or whatever generative-fake-AI thinger is doing its work “on the device” doesn’t mean the energy used to do it is free.
That’s a ruse for corps to put the blame on individuals for the environmental impact.
How long before Apple, Microsoft, Google, et al sponsor ads or offer tips telling users to be more environmentally friendly with the earth-burning technology they put on customer devices?
