Fees haven't ever really been high. I'm all for people running knots & doing whatever they can to filter the bullshit, but I still expect fees to be $100s if not $1000s one day. The goal is some way to securely share UTXOs & primarily operate on higher layers.

IMO the cost of making an onchain transaction will one day be similar to the cost of court (proof of ownership) or the cost of renouncing citizenship (moving all assets from one major payment pool to another). And even if it's many $1000s people will probably still pay to timestamp their marriage & all sorts of other things into the timechain. The more it costs (the more people bidding for the space) the greater the significance of doing such things.
