well, my suggestion is back up those .bitcoin directories and as long as you don't need to do a reindex they work ok, a gigabit network drive would be ok at that point, and maybe a little more memory on them so they cache more of the network drive kv store data
but it might not be worth it
anyhow, ultimately the purpose of this is providing an RPC for LN nodes or some other app, right? maybe start thinking about the bitcoin node as a replicable unit instead of the raw storage, most of the time 2 will keep you running and worst case 3 to cope with a really unlucky failure... and keep an adequate but maybe a bit slow one aside for redoing the IBD if you really get unlucky
i think that is probably the best way to deal with bitcoin nodes... they are a unit, and it only takes about an hour to replicate the data to another disk if you have a device with two onboard NVMe sockets on domestic hardware
