it does make life a lot easier, and this is my point, if anything should be a common it is these test rigs, a lot of work can be saved if they become as widely used and maintained as the specs themselves
one thing though, i've started to have some ideas about how i can simplify making web based user interfaces as well, by modeling them as though they are an API and piping user inputs through it so the actual execution code is talking to an interface API instead of ad-hoc nonsense, and then you can swap out the actual interface with a test rig pressing the buttons and on the back end you are reacting to the input and assessing it as a fake relay
this also requires a really good relay architecture that can be sliced and diced to do this
