Protests help raise awareness and help shape views, discourse, and, eventually, policy. It helps students get engaged in politics, many of whom will continue to take a more active role in our throughout the rest of their lives because of their experiences there.

Did the Vietnam protests immediately change policy? No, but it was a part of a shift in mindset so we now look back on that war in distaste.

It may be the most sensible use of students' very limited power I can think of.
