There is no point in arguing politics because the difference is one of values, and there is just no way that you will ever get someone to change their values on the spot based on an internet debate.

Now of course this stuff can be complex, but with our current upcoming election, I see two broad categories that are good examples here.

There are people that care a lot about the economy, they are scared of socialism. Those are your Trumpsters.

There are people that care a lot about women’s rights and maintaining democracy, they are scared of a slide into dictatorship and a degradation of women’s rights. Those are your Harris fans.

You can’t make a Trumpster suddenly give priority to women’s rights. Those aren’t their values.

You can’t make a Harris fan suddenly give priority to economic issue. Those aren’t their values.

So go on and pick apart every little thing your political opponent does, go on big rants about it, yell till you are blue in the face, it won’t change anything. What you are up against are differing values. Your only chance at all is to have a real, deep, conversation with someone on what their values are and why. ...and ain’t no one got time for that.
