I've tried some wool blended with acrylic. It's okay. I'm knitting up a scarf in superwash merino right now to test out a yarn I'm considering for a hooded cardigan. So far I'm liking it. I've only used cotton for things like potholders. It's not my favourite to work with either.
I haven't tried alpaca yet. Working my way up to it.
