One the one hand, I understand the appeal of Rap to intelligent folks. It's basically the only version of poetry the modern world recognizes. So the bright young men looking to show their intelligence, skill, prowess with words, cleverness would have written a series of sonnets back in the day, but now-a-days turn to rap since nobody reads or cares about sonnets. I'm thinking of the guys who do things like the Epic Rap Battles of History or the Keynes v. Hayek raps.
