Yes, I have declined promotion to the point where they've stopped offering it.
I'm smart enough to understand my life would be a living hell if I was elevated to middle management.

My boss is so stupid (and I mean literally his IQ is way below whatever is necessary to comprehend the financial topics my group is in charge of) every meeting is like walking in a never-ending wonderland of "I can't believe he said that" and "I can't believe he STILL doesn't get it."

Danger Man aka Secret Agent Man is such a great show. Patrick McGoohan is top tier, and the writing is excellent. You really get a sense of how bewildering spycraft must be, not having any actual idea who can be trusted, who's trying to kill you, and how you can figure things out without blowing your own cover. In "You're not in any trouble, are you?" he tries to figure out who's running an assassination ring by hiring them to murder himself.
Just a superb show.

So, here's a conundrum. In Asian countries (Japan, Korea), they have a lot of pre-packaged foods, just like in America. Lots of ramen noodles, chips, cookies . . . etc. But the average Japanese and Korean person is not even close to as morbidly obese as the average American person.
Is it genetics? Do they put less damaging stuff in Asian foods? (hard to believe based on what I see in the ramen ingredients list) Are Americans that much lazier?

What this is indicative of is the overall trend that the imaginary people who might be watching one through the screen - people the average person does not know and will NEVER meet - are FAR more important than the actual people in one's lives.
These people put imaginary views before siblings, parents, children, and partners. The world that comes through the screen is MORE REAL than actual real life.

At a recent wedding - the DJ played a lot of older songs that had a monster dance beat added to them. Even "Dancing in the Moonlight" by King Harvest had a loud and driving beat added to it.
What is this shit? Why can't we have nice things anymore? I used to enjoy weddings. Now all the dancing is "jump up and down like an idiot" type dancing to hearing-loss inducing "killa beats."
Also, get the hell off my lawn!

It is pretty weird what kind of made up fake stuff gets passed around on the Internet. Just yesterday I saw some bs story about how Robin Williams left $50 M dollars in his will to his housekeeper, and she then started a charity called "Robin's Wings" - totally fabricated. But when I went looking around I found the same story repeated (with no evidence) about a billion times. Everything on the internet really is fake and gay.

With no way of knowing how many folks might be out there on his side, one can't afford to spend time trying to keep track of him while looking to see what other threats exist. And, another shooter did apparently start taking shots at him from a bridge.
So, if anyone else winds up in this situation, please just shoot the bad guy and don't hesitate.

I've probably mentioned this before, but our tradition is for St. Nicholas to bring cookies to the children on his feast day (6 Nov) along with a letter. It started out being handwritten by my wife, but when she received her terminal diagnosis, I helped her fill out a template so I could create a font of her special "Saint Nicholas" handwriting, which I now use to write the letters.

Old school Disney shorts were pretty awesome. My kids get a healthy dose of those, the Looney Tunes classics, and Tom & Jerry.
But 1930s Popeye is like the creme de la creme. Those original Fleischer shorts are fantastic.
I've never been a big Hannah Barbara fan, and my kids will watch Yogi Bear and Snagglepuss and such, but they don't enjoy them like the others.

This is so obviously a bio-engineered phenomena. How many years have ticks been around, and how many years have ticks been feeding on deer and other mammals, and there was never any "alpha-gal syndrome" plaguing humans. How many other countries are struggling with "alpha-gal syndrome"? Because there are ticks on every continent, even Antarctica.
No way humans developed a natural allergy to red meat as the result of a tick bite. Just no way.
