Yes, I didn't mean to imply we as a society were incapable of caring for the elderly. Just that it gets harder to do as population decreases. I think slow depopulation wouldn't be too much trouble, if living in an overcrowded population with nowhere to go. Honestly, population isn't all that big a problem. It's a big number but:
1. a few people are producing most of the pollution
2. without tyranny like consumerism, our population will grow or shrink as needed on its own
