We definitely need to bridge the gap and transition. We already have the technology to transition a lot of our energy (over a period of decades to centuries) but we don’t have a legitimate economic incentive to do so yet.

That’s the biggest problem with fiat and top down economic dictates. It makes it way harder to know the truth, which price would normally communicate.

Hydrocarbons have been getting cheaper over the past half century, even with an expanding population. Once that changes, our infrastructure will start to change too. But if we are boxed in by central planning and waste trillions building broken and unreliable infrastructure, that will be our real doom.
