No ASICS, just a raspberry pi for making the decisions, providing the web interface, etc.
The annotated picture shows the following:
1. Modular power supply. 24V converter pictured here to run off the HVAC's power, but it can also use 5V and run off a 5v power supply connected to an outlet
2. Header pins for the LCD touchscreen
3. Silent (solid state) relays. 3 pictured, room for one more for two stage heating systems
4. Reset switch
5. Connector for the temperature sensor
6. Terminal posts to interface with the HVAC system
If you are interested in the temperature sensor component, I can go inyo more detail on that, but it's just an off the shelf component.
