Given how poorly behaved some MacOS apps are at properly maintaining and cleaning up their plist debris, I actually wish MacOS followed this same convention of sandboxed apps and app data.
Leaving Registry Data (Windows) or Property List (Mac OS) orphaned after app deletion is simply messy "80's style" OS operation.
