Do people actually believe this outdated take? This is not the late 2000's sir. Unions are hiring, training, and guaranteeing job placement here. A refrigeration license will get you six figures and that pension.

The only exception to this are union guys and that’s like being on the organ list. Our 56 year old carpenter says he’s #20 on the list for a union job. “Only a few more years” unless there’s an economic downturn, then it’ll be a few more years after that. It’s the only way he’ll get a decent pension though and the *only* way he’ll make over $50/hr or get benefits, and this guy has decades of experience and basically does the whole job himself. Meanwhile the boss charges $10,000 to pour some sidewalks and he pays $3,000 for wages $2,000 for materials and pockets the rest. Who would be stupid enough to work in this industry when you’ll get your back broken by middle age?
