- I don't see the issue here. This is not AI in the sense of ChatGPT. This is AI in creating audio out of text.
I've used ElevenLabs before. All you do is feed in a voice sample and then give it text and it just reads the text aloud.
This is good technology in that it automates text to speech, that's it.
While it could encroach on voice actors, I believe there'd still be a market for voice actors that could go beyond that speech synthesis of ElevenLabs.
There are so many books that have not and will not be produced into audiobooks. This will automate that.
This greatly increases availability of books to the visually impaired, those who can't read, and to mass translation.
Again... this is not the AI Grift of ChatGPT and other weird stuff. This is just automating text to speech. The AI part is just on making the speech sound more natural and less roboty. This is a great use of the technology.
