While I embrace the freedom and simplicity of van life, my experience living near a beach in southern Portugal has shifted my perspective on the matter. The influx of camper vans has brought about some challenges. Often, they are parked haphazardly, and the local environment suffers as a result of littering, despite waste bins being readily accessible. Moreover, the lack of proper sanitation facilities has led to unsightly and unhygienic conditions in the natural surroundings. It's disheartening to see such disregard for the community and environment, and it underscores the need for responsible tourism practices to preserve the beauty and cleanliness of our neighborhoods.
