I think the assumption sexual choking is primarily about violence against women by men is an over-simplification. Even this article notes that this is also being requested by women and is done by women. I am not trying to point to women as the reason, as I have zero doubt there are enough stats to point fingers in as many directions as they should be. I am also under no illusion that there is not a % of non-consensual engagement here, as there is with every other type of activity.
