Someone from the community asked me lately about our composting routine.

It is a lot of preparation as I spend time collecting brown material and shredding them for the carbon pile. Collecting leaves or wood chips is as well part of this routine.

As soon as I have enough green material available, I sort then to avoid labels and then I shred them. The goal is to have a compost ready a lot faster.

Then I go to the pile with one volume of greens and one volume of browns. I always burry the compostables in the pile to not attract unwanted visitors.

I check the moisture level, I check the compaction by turning the piles and I check how are the composting worms.

This is done if not daily at least every other day depending on the volumes of greens available.
